You need to get the access logs to isolate the issue, have they provided those yet?

    Thanks.

Definitely it’s something in your hosting, since if it was something in theme you wouldn’t be the only one with this issue.
Regarding your local installation, those small problems can be related with the migration you did.

You can also try a clean install in your localhost(use this plugin https://pt.wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-reset/)
and in your live site export all the WordPress content and all the theme options(there is a specific option inside the theme options) and import it in your local site.

So the deal is that I’m not going to get either direct or indirect access to any of the server error logs. I understand not having direct access since i’m fundamentally on a shared/managed wordpress hosting solution and direct access could mean I see things that I shouldn’t. In talking with the support guy he came up with a few things. They are running a slightly older version of PHP, 5.4 to be more precise. Could there be something in that version that could be causing an issue? Since this is a a managed installation certain directories are read-only, namely the wp-admin and wp-includes directories. Would there be any possibility that the theme is trying to make a modification to a file in there or attempting to write something into those core WordPress directories?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I also have a shared hosting in hostgator and I can manage how I like my file permissions inside my account, also I also have logs so guess it’s just an excuse from your hosting.

Using an old Php version can have impact in all the php code because some things change and other are deprecated.

Can’t understand why they running a version so old, all this together is causing the problem somewhere.

I advise you to change hosting.

Well this is a “managed” system which explains what I see regarding the core wordpress files. I quite suspect that there is one physical copy of WP on the server and the folders are just symlinked into my web space. That way they only have to upgrade one set of files. If it is a unique copy just for me I wouldn’t want write access to core WordPress anyway, far to easy to break things horribly that way. As for PHP being old, yes, disappointing. I was told they were working on getting 5.5 or 5.6 but it hasn’t rolled out yet. No idea why the delay. I have 7 enabled on my local WAMP install and my very very limited testing seemed ok and maybe even a bit quicker. Guess its time to look for a different host/hosting plan.

Based on what’s happening and their attitude of don’t provide a simpler error log, guess it’s the best thing you do. Losing time with situations like this without moving further also costs money so it’s better to move to another one.
