I have a follow up question on this topic. We decided to duplicate our site on the WPEngine Staging environment, install Atelier (current live site uses Neighborhood) and bulk delete, rebuild items as necessary. Initial plan was to build entirely new site on separate ‘temporary’ URL (http://thktgraphics.wpengine.com/) and push customer data in once ready. Your support advised us to rebuild on existing site.
New staging site: http://thikit.staging.wpengine.com/
(current live site: https://thikit.com/)
Issue we are having is with wp-admin, on staging site it is a bit buggy. For instance:
– I work on a post, product or page for a while (deleting content and replacing it to work with Atelier), when i hit UPDATE, it stalls, gives a blank screen with notice “are you sure you want to do this” – if i click continue – it reverts back to old version and i lose the work i just did. This has happened about 5 times in past week.
– As I scroll up and down on a page, i notice the full wp-admin sidebar starts getting all out of whack, links are piling up on each other and i have to scroll up and down a few times before it resets itself correctly. In particular the “Theme Options” menu is very buggy – attached is screen shot to illustrate.
– Not sure if this is connected to buggy-ness, but the entire wp-admin side menu is larger on the staging site than it is on the completely new site i started with (screen shot shows comparison). Overall, working in the staging site feels a bit unstable.
LONG STORY SHORT – HERE IS MY QUESTION:
Is it possible that some of the custom css and all the elements that went into the original (Neighborhood) site are causing issues with the new Atelier site?
Is there anything we can do to clear out any backend assets/custom css that may still be lingering?
Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. I don’t want to go to far along and have serious issues with the site.
Thanks very much –
Frank Kiernan
