Product display type: Gallery for Desktop view, Standard for responsive

Hi,

Is there a way to switch the product display type to standard only for the responsive view.
gallery view doesn’t deliver a good user experience on mobile, so I’d like to diplay more information for the responsive view whilst maintaining a clean look in the browser…

Unfortunately that is not part of the current theme functionality, and it’s not within the scope of our support to be able to provide that functionality as it is more work than a small customisation. While we’d love to be able to support every customisation request, we simply don’t have the time.

Hi Kyle,

I like the gallery layout, but it is very limited in responsive mode. basically not usable.
I thought it was a bug that it doesn’t display any information like product title or price.
But then I saw it’s the same even on your demos eg. http://cardinal.swiftideas.com/demos/#shop_two
Could be dissapointing for your customers when they buy the theme because they like a certain style
in the demo, but then realize it’s basically not working in production environment…
I don’t have a budget for a programmer at the moment so I will just go for another style that works responsive as well.
However in my opinion issues that affect the core functionality of the theme should be handled by the support staff.
Nobody expects support for heavy customization, and you guys are really helpful even on things that exceed basic requests by far. But if something is missing even on the demos, this should at least be adressed for future updates.
(I think you agree that seeing a price and product name should be something that should be provided in responsive view)

I will send the feedback to the developer, however some users want the gallery layout on mobile also, so changing it to standard on mobile will not suit most customers.

Just the mouse hovering doesn’t work on mobile, what makes it complicated to see get product information on mobile wh I wanted to have
the standard version for mobile.
However I wouldn’t mind using it on mobile as well as long there would be any information in the overlay, but as mentioned above it’s missing the product name as well as the price. I guess stripping away this most basic information shouldn’t be in anybodys interest…

I think we used to have it were the 1st click activated the hover state, and second click navigated to the product page, however people did not like it like that so we changed it. I’ll pass your feedback onto the developer
