    Hi!
I’m setting up galleries http://www.dev.mariaburtis.com, and the client will be reordering the order of the images to her liking. I am already noticing that the bottom navigation is all mixed up — not referring to images in the same gallery, and not in order.

It seems logical that the order on the gallery page, should be reflected in the single portfolio item bottom navigation.

Can you tell me what is going on?

    Thanks,
    Allyson

    Hi,

What navigation you are talking about? I see all gallery in the menu and there is no navigation. Can you explain a bit more?

    Thanks,
    laranz.

    Hi Laranz,
If you look at a gallery http://www.dev.mariaburtis.com/?page_id=6525, you’ll see that the portfolio items have names (like “lillies and bay”, “tumbled”, “santa rosa plum trees”, etc). When you click on a portfolio item, like “lillies and bay”(the first image), http://www.dev.mariaburtis.com/?portfolio=lillies-and-bay, then at the bottom on the page currently you see “delta trees” and “copse” in the traditional “previous” and “next” location.

However, these have nothing to do with Gallery 1, where you find “lillies and bay”, nor the images beside it. So, it’s confusing.

A good user experience would be that the “Previous” and “next” links would correspond to the thumbnail order on the gallery page.

How can I make this happen?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

You mean, when you click lillies and bay.

There is no previous porfolio, and the next portfolio will be tumbled. You wanna display like that?

But unfortunately, this is how WordPress “next_post_link” and “previous_posts_link” displays links “next_post_link” will display the next post which exists in chronological order from the current post.

You can refer this codex pages: http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/next_post_link, http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/previous_posts_link

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    laranz.
