I have created two separate portfolio pages with separate Parent categories and subcategories and have (I think) properly checked off the proper category for each portfolio item. However, when I go to each of the pages and try to sort for the subcategories, there are always two of each subcategory to choose from. Funny thing is, the sorting appears to show subcategories for both parent categories. See attached.
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi

What do you expect? If you have 2 categories (each under a different parent) which have the same name then they are going to show up twice

What I want is two separate portfolio pages, one for work in progress and one for completed work. Each portfolio page has a unique parent category with subcategories below it that do share the same name by design (one all caps and one all lowercase). Each portfolio item gets checkmarks under one of the subcategories-but never gets checked under both parents.

From this setup I would think that each portfolio page should only filter for the subcategories on that portfolio page, and not show every single portfolio item I have checked. I see no reason for categories from one parent group to show up in the filtering for another especially since none of the subcategories are even on that portfolio page.

The reason I set up two parents was to allow for the two portfolio pages and control for this exact issue. Is it not possible to do have this setup?

Unfortunately the theme only expects one portfolio page, which is why all the filters are included. I’ll pass this onto the developer to see if there’s anything we can do

    Hi there,

Our latest themes do support this, so I’ve made a few adjustments to the flexform code. Here is an updated theme zip – http://d.pr/f/18JEf/3VIZVlNw

Test it out and let us know.

You just need to update the theme, 2 ways:

    1) Use FTP software such as filezilla to connect to your server, upload the new theme files which will override the old ones

    2) An easier option would be to delete the current theme and reupload via WordPress dashboard
