folks, when trying to activate the a admin panel plugin I’m getting the following error message:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare setup_framework_options() (previously declared in /home/northcykel/public_html/wp-content/themes/neighborhood/includes/swift-framework/sf-options.php:68) in /home/northcykel/public_html/wp-content/plugins/panelator/options.php on line 236

The plugin in question is the following:
    http://codecanyon.net/item/panelator-administrator-skin/3981763

I have it working with other frameworks/themes and I’m finding clients really like the feel and look of this revised admin dashboard.

Could you let me know how I might resolve this matter and implement this plugin

    Thanks

    Hi,

Your error states that both theme and plugin has a function with the same name. If you could ask the plugin developer to rename it for you i belive it should work fine. Also not prefixing function names with the plugin alias is a bad coding practice ans should be corrected by the developer.

    Thanks

After contact the plugin developer this is his response – all double dutch to me!!

“The theme author haven’t took the time to write to you the “same name function” ? If he did, please let us know.

If not, I have to assume it has to be any function, so it will be a time consuming procedure to just rename everything.

Prefixing functions is helping us not conflicting with the huge number of plugins and themes out there. We already had some cases we dealt with.”

What’s my next course of action?
