Hi, just struggling with the permalinks settings and I hope you’re able to help.

I’m using the portfolio post type for “cases” and “products” and would like to use these as the bases in the permalink like so:

    http://www.domain.com/cases/casename
    http://www.domain.com/products/productname

Somehow this seems not to be possible. Would I need a plugin for that? Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Hi

You could change it to one of them, but you can’t have portfolio being cases and products, you would need 2 different post types for that

Ah, thats what I thought. Would it be easy to add another post type?

It would be easier to use woocommerce for products and the portfolio for cases

    Hi,

I understand. I’m not necessarily looking for the easier option. It is more important to have a solid solution that works best. I’ve never implemented Woocommerce but I assume I would need the plugin which would make the website slower? They only have 20 odd products and I would still need the pagebuilder to work. Also, it might look strange to the client to add their products to the Woocommerce posts as they don’t need the full functionality.

To add a new post type, could I duplicate single-portfolio.php and go from there? Could that work? Would I need to change/add any other files?

Just looking at my options here.

    Thank you for your time!

If you wanted to duplicate the portfolio post type you would need to add a lot of customisation, it’s a combination of several different files and rules. I’m afraid a customsation of this scope is beyond what we can support. You might want to hire a developer to help you
