We are having issues with multiple portfolios with the same sub-categories.
We have three furniture categories, each with sub-categories that are the same. In two out of three sortable portfolio menus, the sub-categories do not appear.
i.e. Each furniture category has ‘Tables’ as a sub-category but ‘Tables’ only shows up in the sortable menu on one page (Mid-century).
We need the sub categories to show up under each category, even when they are named the same.
We have change the slugs, but this does not make a difference.
March 31, 2014 at 10:09 am #62685Hey, does it work if you call them differently?
March 31, 2014 at 11:13 am #62726Yes. If they are named differently it does work.
The problem is they cannot be named differently.
Thoughts?
April 1, 2014 at 9:36 am #63077It’s strange that you say your slugs are different but they still don’t show up. Are you sure your slugs are called different?
Let me know, then I’ll pass this on to the developer. Usually everything should be handled with IDs/slugs, but if it’s handled via the category name there is no other solution than either recoding the theme or renaming the categories.
Cheers
April 1, 2014 at 10:33 pm #63443Hi Melanie,
The slugs are definitely different.
I have had to rename the categories to get them to appear, but this is not ideal.
Can you forward to Ed for a solution?
Thanks,
Mark

Swift IdeasApril 3, 2014 at 10:52 pm #64404Yes because I have added a suffix to sub-categories that are named the same, i.e. Stoorage, Storage (MC) and Storage (FI).
If we lose the (MC) and (FI) then only the original Storage shows up.
That is the original issue.
Can this be looked at?
April 4, 2014 at 11:01 am #64528Hi,
You can make Same name Sub Category with all category with different slug . Basically, WordPress automatically change the slug for duplicated categories / sub categories . Category can be the same name but slug must be different .Thanks
April 6, 2014 at 11:05 pm #64774Mohammad,
Either to haven’t read my comments or have misunderstood the issue.
We created sub-categories with the same name and DIFFERENT SLUGS and they still cancel each other out.
i.e.
Category=French Industrial, Sub-category=Seating (with slug seating-fi)
Category=French Showroom, Sub-category=Seating (with slug seating-fs)Different slugs.
Only French Showroom shows up.
Check for yourself: http://taffydev.com.au/clients/carousel-interiors/french-industrial/
Can someone else look at this issue for us?
April 7, 2014 at 2:13 pm #65004Yeah, I’m sorry for that, it seems he didn’t check our past conversation. I will forward this to the developer directly as promised!
Thank you so much for posting back with the information and thank you for the patience! If you can, please let us know your wp-admin login details in case he wants to take a look at the backend (or your front end, as it’s in maintenance mode)!
Thank you!
April 8, 2014 at 11:14 am #65319Hi Mark,
Just checking this, and it seems that the sub-category for French Industrial > Seating is “seating-fs”, yet the items have “seating-fi” assigned to them?
If you can provide a login I’ll happily take a look.
