I’ve created a homepage that has several important sections. I’ve figured out how to create a menu that smooth scrolls to each section; however, I can’t figure out how to create a global menu that gets the user from a secondary page back to a specific section of the homepage.
For example: if someone is looking at a secondary detail page for a service we offer and then they want to get back to the services section of the home page – how can I create a link/menu item that will get them back to the home page and then scroll to that section or just loads at that section of the homepage?
I’ve tried several things but all are very unreliable and glitchy.
Thanks!
January 4, 2016 at 8:22 am #238035Hi,
Please use the full links like http://www.example.com/#services/ for secondary page to come at specific section of home page. Hope it should help to you. You can use the individual menus for each page through page meta. Hope it should help to you.
Thanks
MohammadJanuary 4, 2016 at 4:35 pm #238206Ok, that is working on desktop but on mobile there seems to be a glitch. I can see that the link is leading to the right spot but then when the content above is loaded it knocks it off target.
I discovered when I click the link for the first section on the page and it worked fine.
How can I get this to function properly? Please advise.
Thanks!

Everything seems perfect to me. How can i replicate the issue?
Thanks
MohammadJanuary 5, 2016 at 5:00 pm #238439Go to the home page and scroll to footer. Click “Team” and usually it just reloads the page in the contact section at the bottom.
Actually the “Team” link in footer and from hamburger menu from any secondary page is very glitchy. Most times it won’t land in the correct place.
January 6, 2016 at 11:39 am #238577Hi,
Everything works fine except the Footer links. I am checking it to find the any solution.
Thanks
MohammadJanuary 6, 2016 at 3:11 pm #238638The menu on the home page works perfect because they just slide to the correct place of the same page. But the hamburger menu on secondary pages does not completely work yet for some reason. In a quick test I just did all the links worked except for the “team”, “partners” and “contact”.
Team loaded way off alignment (couldn’t even see the section), partners cut the section in half (could only see the partner logos and not the title or intro to the section) and contact cut the section in half (could see a lot of the section above the contact sections).
Test from a secondary such as: http://weareinfrared.com/consumer-promotions/
Please advise.
Thanks.
TimJanuary 6, 2016 at 3:26 pm #238641Hi,
Please check the menu links look like this
#about
and not thishttp://www.weareinfrared.com/#about
.Thanks.
January 7, 2016 at 4:32 pm #238912That doesn’t work on the menu when navigating from a secondary page. It just adds #about to the present page url instead of going to the home page and scrolling down to the about section…
January 8, 2016 at 10:18 am #239050Hi
What you want to do is create a separate menu in appearance > menus for that page. Then use just #about for the link. Then edit the page, scroll down to Page Meta Options and set the menu. This will make that page use the smooth scroll links, and every other page will use the main menu which should have the full link http://www.weareinfrared.com/#about

January 13, 2016 at 9:24 pm #240191That’s exactly what I have done. However, the menu item is not always leading to the correct part of the page. It loads there and then in two seconds the page shifts to a place unrelated.
Please advise.
January 15, 2016 at 11:53 am #240744Hi,
I can confrim I also see this, for other team members to reproduce:
1) Go to http://weareinfrared.com/consumer-promotions/
2) Click Team menu link, this leads to the homepage which looks like it’s not offsetting the (header height or row margin height)– I’ll need to run this past our lead developer today for you.
In the meantime, can you update your Swift Framework: http://weareinfrared.com/wp-admin/update-core.php.
Thanks,
David.January 15, 2016 at 5:32 pm #240886Hi there,
Added some custom JS to sort this for you, will include it in the next theme update, so you may need to remove it once that’s updated.
Thanks.
