    Hello Folks,

First of all, great work on the theme, it’s got a lot of great features and functionality.

I’m wondering if this issue I’m having is a Cardinal theme issue, or a WordPress issue… In trying to keep my page load times as tight as possible as well as trying to have a clean uploads folder, I want to be able to use auto-generated thumbnail versions of images that I upload for the custom post types (Portfolio) > Meta Options > thumbnail image.

Particularly because I don’t want the full size image to load for each thumbnail, because often for the Portfolio thumbnails, I use the same image as the one I use for the page title banner, which is a large size image. When I did a google speed test, it showed me that the images that were loading in the portfolio masonry display were loading the full size banner image instead of a smaller thumbnail for the masonry blocks. Because I’m using a lot of features such as revolution slider etc, that contribute to longer load times, I want to trim off some of that time by making things like the masonry thumbnails actually display the thumbnail version of the image instead of a shrunken down view of the larger banner.

I’ve attached some screen shots to try to show what i’m talking about of the functionality that’s missing in the “Select Images” modal that pops up when you click on the thumbnail Meta Options “Select or Upload Images”. It’s the “Attachment Display Settings” that I want to have access to so I can be able to select the thumbnail.

Thanks again for a great theme.

    Hi

I’m afraid WordPress only provides the thumbnail sizes for when you’e importing media into your content, therefore it’s not possible to select a smaller size for the featured image

I wouldn’t recommend it anyway as it will make your images blurry. What you should do instead is optimize the image before you upload it
