Please check that product page.
With WPML & Cardinal there are over 2500 queries.
WPML turned off = 1100 queries.
Cardinal turned off as well and using twenty 14 = 266 queries.
Twenty 14 with WPML = 1936 queries.
We are using a lot of woocommerce product variations and we thought that was the issue. Maybe it is combined with your theme and WMPL?
Have you got any suggestions?
September 5, 2014 at 12:52 pm #107409Hi,
The example you gave, loaded in about 3 seconds. What I think is very good.
Twenty 14 is a very simple theme with few options that’s why the number of queries is smaller.Take note that a bad Query can take the same time that 1000 good querys.
The product variations are also more complex than a simple product.
When your site is finished you can use a cache plugin like W3Total Cache, and also CDN plugin or cloudflare to the images.
Hope it helps

September 5, 2014 at 4:03 pm #107490Hi Rui,
Thanks for the response. The page speed is critical to us (everyone these days).
We are already making improvements with caching etc. However, fact remains that this is a really high amount of queries. I’ve been speaking to a few specialists and they have advised that even 200 is crazy high. Are you saying that it is normal that your theme has so many queries and that it is not an issue?
September 5, 2014 at 8:49 pm #107554Hi there,
Where are you getting these numbers from? I’ve never seen above 200 with Cardinal, albeit that was without WPML/WooCommerce. The theme is as optimised as it can possibly be in terms of queries, considering the options/meta/color customisations available in the theme.
This would not be the cause of a slow load time. During testing we managed to get the load time of the features site down to 700ms.

September 9, 2014 at 6:24 am #108316Hi Ed,
Sorry about that. Because there are so many queries the Debug Queries tool was slowing down page loads even more and making it difficult to work. When you are able to login please just go to the plugins and activate Debug Queries.
One thing I don’t understand is that the p3 plugin profiler tool gives a lower result. The main issue is the product pages where we have lots of variations. Even with the theme and WPML turn off it is still over 250 queries. But the theme adds about 1200 and then WPML another 1500 on top of that.

I’ve installed debug bar and SAVEQUERIES enabled. You can see it on the top right of the admin bar on any page.I’ll leave it active as this one doesn’t slow down the site even more..
TOTAL QUERIES:
2,326
TOTAL QUERY TIME:
1,683.5 msVery fast for so many queries 🙂
September 9, 2014 at 8:41 pm #108831Hi,
Can you confirm the username and password you gave, it won’t let me in.. Also can you try disable all the plugins except woocommerce and check?
Because I see this in your report.
Plugin impact: 96.51% of load time
Let us know,
Thanks,
laranz.September 10, 2014 at 12:29 pm #109077Hi Laranz,
96.51% load time is the p3 profiler result, of which p3 profiler itself is 83.51%. It only lists 107 of the queries. The debug bar will show you the details more clearly on each page.

I see that most of the queries are from wp_icl strings, You are using WPML too, so I suggest you to contact them for this, because all those queries are related to translations. They have some problems like this too http://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpml-queries-the-db-a-lot-and-it-compounds-when-other-plugins-are-activated/ so I suggest you to create a thread on their support forum, they will happy to help you.
Let us know,
Thanks,
