Hi There,
I am getting really slow load times on my site, and sometimes it doesn’t load at all, irrespective of browser. It seems I’m loading 1.5mb of scripts — is there any way to reduce this or speed up the load time? Any advice very much appreciated.

Many thanks in advance!

March 13, 2015 at 3:10 pm #157189Hi,
Can you try to use a cache plugin and minifier for the css.
Let us know the result.

March 13, 2015 at 3:21 pm #157191Hi Rui,
I’m running SuperCache, although can switch to W3 if you think it better.
I’ve implemented BWP Minify, but it seems to have increased load time to 21s and 2.1mb…. 75% of the load is still CSS/JS.Best,
J
March 13, 2015 at 3:50 pm #157201There also seems to be a menu issue where the page fails to load, perhaps you could have a look: http://beautifuljoes.com/ by going Menu and clicking any link.
Thanks! JMarch 13, 2015 at 4:26 pm #157219That seems to be caused by a script that kills popups.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/9qnmuk19tk1a9dz/script_error.png?dl=0Try to deactivate all plugins to check if it still happens.
Also try to check the performance test with all the plugins disabled.-Rui
March 13, 2015 at 7:41 pm #157267I deactivated all plugins, but it made no difference (although load time did drop to 6s).
Re: menu — it is a jump link issue. If I write the menu link as if from the homepage (e.g. “#instagram”) it works from the homepage, but not from other pages (obvs). But if I use full URL (e.g. “http://beautifuljoes.com/#instagram”) it neither works from homepage nor any other page. I need to be able to link to jump links from other pages, and am not sure of the structure.
I did some research and I believe this may be jQuery related and something to do with the Cardinal theme structure itself?
Thanks.

Many thanks,
Jack
March 17, 2015 at 7:42 pm #158368Hi,
Apologize for the delay.
It’s loading the page when I use a direct link in the browser.
Notice that you are missing some theme updates, you have 2.01 and we are already in 2.06.Just try to update and check again. If it doesn’t work will ask the development team to have a look.
Thanks

March 17, 2015 at 11:34 pm #158398Hi Rui,
No problem — although it’s beginning to be a real issue. If I can’t get it fixed soon I will have to abandon Cardinal which will be absolutely a disaster.
I’ve screencast the problem here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v400vx0fjlkisis/Cardinal_MenuIssue.mov?dl=0
As I said, extremely slow loading time and faulty menu. I’ve updated to latest version of the theme as well as WP and all plugins… I’m just not sure what the problem is…
Thanks again,
Jack.
March 19, 2015 at 12:15 pm #159030Hi,
Thanks for the video. I disable again all the plugins but still the same issue.
Will forward it to our head developer so he can check it.Thanks

March 19, 2015 at 2:28 pm #159085Thanks Rui — that’s kind of you.
When do you think the developer will be able to look at the problem? Also, is there a way for me to contact them?Very best,
Jack

March 19, 2015 at 10:16 pm #159188Hi @jackself
Sorry to hear you’re having issues. I checked your site out, and there is only 398kb scripts loading – 1.5Mb of images however.
The issue seems to be with the admin-ajax.php WordPress file, called by the Quickview plugin – can you try temporarily disabling this?
As for the menu issue, thanks for pointing that out – I’m looking into it and will get it resolved asap.

March 19, 2015 at 10:18 pm #159189Just realised you are using full URLS with the menu – change those to just be #need for example, rather than http://beautifuljoes.com/#need
That will sort it!
