    I’ve twice inserted a link for an article from the New York Times into a masonry blog post, changed the font for the term “New York Times” to italics, saved the changes and refreshed the page. The words “New York Times” do not display in italics on the masonry blog display, nor is the link live. However, on the detail page, the term DOES display in italics AND is a live link. What am I missing here?

    We stripped out html tags from the excerpt for layout purposes, since it potentially can break the layout. Cheers

    Within the excerpt no, it’s not possible.

    And actually, WordPress itself is “cleaning up” the excerpts, not the theme. An excerpt is a text only intro for your post, that’s how things work with WordPress.
