Hello,
I’m having issues with the size of the Swift Slider when it’s used at the top of a blog post via Meta Options > Detail Media > Standard Slider and selecting images for the Post detail gallery
When I first installed the Joyn theme, the slider appeared to correctly size itself from the aspect ratio of the images. I am using square cropped images for the Thumbnail and for the Detail Media.
In order to look at more colour themes for Joyn, I installed the demo content. After this, the size of the slider was not correct on a number of earlier posts and it is behaving inconsistently on new posts. On some posts (for example: http://aussieedc.com/2017/01/maker-spotlight-shane-mig/) whilst all the images are cropped to a square aspect ratio, the first image appears to have been cropped to a landscape orientation and then the other images in the slider are correctly displayed as square.
On other posts (for example: http://aussieedc.com/2017/01/leatherman-signal/) all the images in the WordPress media library are square yet the entire slider is a landscape aspect ratio.
I can’t see anywhere in the theme options where I can control the size of the slider images.
January 4, 2017 at 7:13 pm #308869Hi,
The 1st image is 570 x 320 and the other ones are 570 x 570. You need to increase the size of that first image and regenerate their thumbnails using the regenerate thumbnails plugin.

January 4, 2017 at 11:55 pm #308892Hi Rui,
Thanks for the prompt reply. When I check the image in the Media Library in the Dashboard, the image itself is 1750 x 1750.

Looking into it in a bit more detail, it looks like the image is being served from a CDN by WordPress (via Jetpack and Photon)
https://i1.wp.com/aussieedc.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/MIG-001.jpgWhen it’s in the slider however, it’s being called as
https://i1.wp.com/aussieedc.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/MIG-001.jpg?resize=1280%2C720If I disable Jetpack, the image is being called as:
http://aussieedc.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/MIG-001-1280×720.jpgAlso, on other posts (e.g. http://aussieedc.com/2017/01/leatherman-signal/) the images are all landscape orientation whereas in the Media Library they are all 1280 x 1280 px in size. When I originally put the post up, the slider correctly displayed all images as square, whereas after I imported the Joyn demo content, then the slider went to displaying the images cropped to a landscape orientation.
January 4, 2017 at 11:58 pm #308893Can you install this plugin and regenerate all thumbnails?
https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/It can take a while if you have a lot of images.

January 5, 2017 at 12:23 am #308896I’m regenerating the thumbnails now…

It could be a plugin conflict or a cache issue in the cdn.-Rui
January 5, 2017 at 12:53 am #308898I have disabled ALL plugins (I’m not using WooCommerce and I can’t disable the Swift Framework) and I’m using a different browser altogether. It’s still doing the same thing e.g.
When I visit the page:
http://aussieedc.com/2017/01/leatherman-signal/ all the images in the carousel are 700 x 395 px. When I open the image in a new tab, it opens up the image http://aussieedc.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/01/IMG_3924-1280×720.jpg (for example)
When I originally created this post, the slider was correctly displaying the images as square.
All of the images in the carousel are square in the media library. On this post in particular, all of the images are 1280 x 1280 in the Library.
I have gone into the post in question and removed the slider altogether (via Detail Media > Detail Type : None).
I then set the Detail Type to Standard Slider, deleted the images that were there in the slider and then added them in again from the library. There is no change in the aspect ratio of the Slider.
January 5, 2017 at 6:34 pm #309011Hi,
Whilst we investigate please keep the plugin that’s adding the resize code disabled.
As I understand you want to use square ratio, not landscape correct?
Thanks.
January 6, 2017 at 9:50 am #309066OK, that plugin is Jetpack (specifically Photon) and I have disabled it.
Please keep me posted as to any further progress.Oh, and yes, I’d like to confirm that I’d like the slider to be square. Well, what I’d actually like is for the slider to correctly pick up the aspect ratio of the included images.
And one more thing – I’ve got my email address set correctly in my profile, but I’m not getting email notifications of the updates to this thread.
January 9, 2017 at 11:35 am #309262Hi,
Strange how the first image is the only issue, could you add your FTP details?
Please install and activate the supplied child theme also so I can add the fix to the child theme.
January 9, 2017 at 12:08 pm #309266I’ll have to set up an sftp login for you – it’ll take me a few minutes.
Where can I get the child theme from?January 9, 2017 at 12:14 pm #309268It’s within the main zip file from ThemeForest.
Thanks.
January 9, 2017 at 12:14 pm #309269This reply has been marked as private.January 9, 2017 at 12:19 pm #309271I have installed and activated the child theme.
January 9, 2017 at 1:13 pm #309284I don’t have regular ftp enabled on this server and ssh/sftp is locked down to key based authentication only.
Is it possible for you to edit the necessary files in the WordPress Editor? -
