Install Demo Content

Hi Ed,

Sorry to bother you for such a simple stuff, but i just couldn’t figure out how to install the demo content. Tried to check out the video in the tutorial section, unfortunately, its not working.

I tried the import option from the dashboard, but completely lost out on the next steps.

Let me tell you what all I did, Dashboard > Tools > Import > Selected WordPress Option > Installed WordPress Installer > Run The importer > It is asking for .xml files and I am stuck

Can u please help me figure it out?

Well, I tried importing, it gave me these errors
Failed to import Media “ol-suade-jacket-grey005”
[… admin edited – lots of media failures…]
Failed to import “Contact form”: Invalid post type wpcf7_contact_form

Hi,

It’s very common for many web hosts to not successfully import media with the WordPress importer, it doesn’t always work, no matter the theme.

What I always do:

1) import with “download media attachments checked” – this usually does import the images, but doesn’t import the pages/posts/etc
2) do another import, WITHOUT checking the option in step 1) (to get the rest of the content)

Also, take a look – you have an error about Contact Form 7 (last one) => you first need to install that plugin, and only then import content for it. This applies to WooCommerce/Revolution Slider as well.

@celeteweitz – those errors are only showing as you don’t have Contact Form 7 or the WooCommerce plugin enabled. Without the plugins enabled, WordPress doesn’t recognise the imported media. This is fine though, as the rest of the import should work fine.

Thnx a lot, U guys rock, I was finally able to import the content, issue was with Contact Form 7 and rev slider not being installed.

Hi I’ve got problem with importing this xml I was trying to use also alternative but still not works… I’ve installed all plugins and all activated. After uploading I do not see (original) author I’ve nothing between the parenthesis (see attached screenshot). After submiting it scrolls list of the failure… Can You give me a link to proper demo.xml?

Hi Greg,

Sounds like you need to increase the php memory on your server. Check the section on it at the bottom of the documentation – http://dante.swiftideas.net/documentation/#demo-content-import

Hm… thank U for an answer ED. I think U can be wright… possibly my hosting is not so good as it should be (in description) I have to talk with them about it.
