IE8 / XP still has issues

I note that in ‘IE8 not supported?’ it states this has been fixed in version 1.5.3

Unfortunately I am still having problems with our site. A Screen shot is attached.

It is slow and very clunky to scroll, Font Awesome icons don’t load and the ‘percentage charts’ do not work very well.

The homepage seems to be the worst, the sub pages aren’t too bad.

Is it just my site?

Hi,

IE8 is supported, but there’s a difference between “supported” and “works in IE8 as in modern browsers”.

IE8 is a very old browser and, while the theme does function, it obviously cannot be compared to when viewed in a modern browser. That’s simply because IE8 just can’t.

Let’s take them one at a time:

Slow and clunky to scroll – IE8 has poor Javascript performance. Compare the same site with IE9 and you’ll see what I mean.

Font Awesome – can you see icons here, in IE8? (I can’t) http://fortawesome.github.io/Font-Awesome/cheatsheet/

Percentage charts use advanced CSS3 that IE8 has no clue about. You can see them and understand what they mean, but they cannot work as intended in this old browser.
