How to create a toggle switch with Portfolio-Thumbnails

Dear Support Team,

Please have a look at the homepage and scroll down to almost the bottom.
There you will see a portfolio grid with 4 images over full width of the page.
I would like to keep the individual styling with mouseover and Text. The issue for which I need help:
By clicking on a thumbnail I want them to show individual content below like a toggle. The switching content is always in the same layout of one row with two columns with text on the left and one image on the right as you currently see on the page. The links are normal anchors. I put it on “display: none” in Custom CSS. But I don’t get it visible by click.
As I can’t place the additional javascript to the links of each thumbnail my question is: Is there another easy way to have such animated images with changing content below?

Unfortunately that customisation is beyond our scope of support as it is more work than a small customisation.

We only provide support for theme issues, and at times basic customisations. While we’d love to be able to support every customisation request, we simply don’t have the time. We recommend that you seek a freelance developer if you need to make that customisation.
