How can I Secure the Flexform Theme?

We are using your Flexform theme and quite like its functionality, flexibility, and robust feature set. Great work!

Another developer was brought in to work on integrating donation functionality and introduced a plugin, WordPress HTTPS (SSL), that caused a conflict with WPML’s translation plugin. The WordPress HTTPS plugin needs to be deactivated, but we still need some pages secured. He is now going through the theme and looking to replace all references to “http://” with “//” so that depending on the page and / or browser, the URL defaults to http: or https:

He would like to know what your approach would be for changing all the “http:” references to “//”. Please advise.

Ideally that’s done with the WordPress HTTPS plugin, strange that exist a plugin conflict with WPML. It’s official this information from the WPML? It was good if you can have both.

You can also try a workaround in the htaccess.

Thank you for your quick response. Yes, WPML developers identified WordPress HTTPS (SSL) as the cause of the conflict. That plugin, while boasting over 80,000 active installs, has not been updated in 2+ years, so I can understand why it might cause conflicts with newer versions of other plugins / WordPress version updates.

WPML is in the process of connecting with WordPress HTTPS (SSL)’s author to resolve the incompatibility.

Until then, we require another solution. How do we modify all references in the theme to call upon a secure version? You mentioned modifying .htaccess. How should he modify it? Could he perform a database search and replace all?

No, don’t change anything in the database.

Also your hosting company probably knows how to do it.

First do a copy of your htaccess because it can take your site down if it’s not properly configured.
