Hi, I made some changes when customising Woocommerce in my dashboard and it stopped the site from working. I uninstalled Woocommerce but this didn’t work, so I removed the files from the server both from the plugins folder and the theme folder and now I seem to have a fatal error. How can I re-install the theme so that I go back to the start, please?

Remove the theme from your server and then reupload a fresh copy

I’ve done that, and it’s almost working.

I have a really important page that has to be named ‘Coffee’. When I originally created the page it was named ‘Coffee’ and it’s permalink was /coffee/, but I changed it to /coffee-shop/ at some point during the installation of Woocommerce. I was set it as the ‘Shop’ page during the setup.

Since then I’ve created a new page called ‘Shop’ for the purposes of Woocommerce.

However, every time I click on the link to the ‘Coffee’ page, it always refers to its old permalink of /coffee-shop/ and shows as a 404 page not found. I’ve deleted the page, deleted it from Trash, re-created the page, given it a new permalink of /coffee/, but it always goes back to the old permalink of /coffee-shop/.

I really don’t know what I can do to stop it linking to the wrong permalink. Can you help me with this please?

I think this is also happening with the Checkout page – whenever you click on it, it always goes to the Cart instead even though the permalink is set as /checkout/.

    Thank you.

So which page is supposed to be your shop page? Coffee or Shop?

Which ever one it is, you need to go to WooCommerce settings and set your shop page. You will also need to re add the link to your Menu

    No, I’ve done all that.

The shop page is Shop, and set as such in Woocommerce, and that’s fine – it’s not on my menu as I don’t want it there at the moment.

The Coffee page will only ever work with the permalink /coffee-shop/ and will not be replaced with anything else.

    Hi

I managed to update your slug for the coffee page without any problems?

Te reason the checkout page will forward to the cart page is if you have no products in your cart

I’m afraid it’s still doing the same thing. If you click on the Coffee button of the main menu of the website page it takes you to /coffee-shop/ and says page not found. Also, if you are editing the page in the Dashboard and click on view it takes you to /coffee-shop/ instead. This is exactly what I was finding – that I could change the slug, but when you went to view the page it reverted.

(Thank you for the explanation about the checkout, I had wondered if this might be the case.)

    Hi

This is not happening for me (see screenshot) When I click on the coffee link in the menu it takes me to /coffee and says ‘products coming soon’

Likely to be a cache issue of some sort, could you try clear your cache?

    Thank you for that.

I’d cleared my cache several times on Friday before reinstalling the theme, and the problem had remained, so I think that after re-installing the theme I just forgot to clear it again!

Right, hopefully it’s all sorted now, thank you for your help.
