Hi,
My home page is a blog, and I’m using the “blog” swift page builder element on this page. Under the page element options, I have it set to show 4 posts. I also have the url for the page set to the main address of “www.ispaci.com” under the custom menu option (menus tab). However, when I go to “www.ispaci.com” it is showing 10 posts instead of 4. If I click on the “home” button on the menu, it goes to another page “www.ispaci.com/home” and is showing the correct number of posts – 4 only.Is there somewhere else in the theme that I need to make an edit so that so the that only 4 posts are displayed on the landing page of “www.ispaci.com?”
Thanks,
CheriseJuly 31, 2013 at 12:05 am #13714Actually, I made an error above. When I click on the “home” button the main menu when I’m at “www.ispaci.com” it stays on “www.ispaci.com” and does not go to “www.ispaci.com/home” I have to type the “/home” in manually and then it takes me to a page showing the correct number of posts (4 only) but the url is “www.ispaci.com/home” and not “www.ispaci.com” as I want it to be. I hope this isn’t confusing how I’m explaining it – I’m trying my best. Thanks!
August 5, 2013 at 3:33 am #14424Hello Cheriserollins,
This is what I did with my homepage. Whether you use a homepage with a slider or just plain blog homepage, I think things work pretty the same. Try this out and apply the ones that works on your end:
ou can create the welcome page or homepage using the SWIFT PAGE BUILDER. First go to PAGE. Click add new and name it- HOME. You see the SWIFT PAGE BUILDER? Click on Choose Elements, then click BLOG ( right under Accordion section.) You can see that little pen icon right there..that’s where you can edit things.Select MASONRY for the blog type if you want to copy that of the demo. For the number of items, you decide how many blogs appear on the homepage. In my case, I choose 9 sometimes 6. ( http://www.kindtrepreneur.me )
Note: Go to Appearance>Menu>Select HOME from the Pages, then click Add to Menu. That HOme thing will show up on the right. There is an arrow beside the word page. Click on it then you will see: Navigation Label. Again, name it Home. That’s what I did. Now name your main menu anything you want. I named mine just MAIN MENU. The same? Yes,no big deal. Click Save Menu after.
Note Again: Go to Appearance>Themes>Customize>NAvigation then find the name of your Menu under Main Menu..For the Top bar menu..leave it under Select if you have not created menus for it. The process though should be the same as building the main menu.. After you’re done. Click Save located at the top.
Going back to the Blog Page Block. Make sure you have the same number of blog pages set in the reading settings. To do this, go to Settings>Reading Settings> then tick on A static page, then put Home as the FRONT PAGE and leave SELECT as the Posts page. Also make sure you tick SUMMARY-under FOR EACH Article In A Feed, show. After you are done with READING SETTINGS SECTION click on save.
Now going back to SWIFT PAGE BUILDER, under BLOG CATEGORY I choose ALL. ( you can experiment on this later on.) In the CONTENT OUTPUT, select Excerpt, then YES for the pagination. Click Save.
We are not done yet. GO ahead and scroll down to Page Options under page meta. Put a check on SHOW POST TICKER and SHOW POST SLIDER. This is important!!! If you don’t want this, just leave unchecked. Also, you see that drop down menu? Select the category you want to show on the slider. ( If I have failed to tell you about the other settings it means I left them as they are.)
Now go straight to POST SLIDER COUNT. If you have lots of post under the category you have chosen, then you can select all of them or just some. If you are done with this, go directly to SIDEBAR OPTIONS then select NO SIDEBARS.
I hope this helps.
August 7, 2013 at 1:08 am #14806Hello – Thank you so much for your help here! It is working just great now – I followed all of your steps. I really appreciate how detailed of an explanation you provided. It must have been the Reading Settings…I didn’t know I needed to change this, but now that it is changed I have exactly 4 posts showing up on my homepage. Thank you very much!!!
