Google Analytics code in the HEADER

Hi! ¿How could I add the Google Analytics script code Not in the footer, but in the HEADER?
Is neccesary for get report of adwords. Thanks

You can copy the header.php file to your child theme and add the analytics code in the head section

Hi, sorry to hijack this thread, but thought rather that than start a new one.

I am having a problem with GA.

I tried using the Dante’s built in setting to add the GA code and was getting “Tracking Not Installed” on the GA administration page.

I left it 24hrs and checked again still with “Tracking Not Installed”.

So I jumped on this forum and found this thread, have copied the header.php to my child theme and added the code to just above the </head> tag and am still receiving “Tracking Not Installed” on the GA administration page.

Which analytic code are you inserting in theme options? You can try this plugin https://wordpress.org/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/.

Just to say it all is working now no plugin required.

It seems it takes a while (as in hours) for Google to see the code on the pages.

Hey Kyle, I was just checking out if Google Analytics was being added to the header or footer with the 3.17 update. After investigating, it looks like it’s being added to both places. When I remove the code, it isn’t on the site at all, so it doesn’t look like anything I’ve added in a child theme. Any solutions? Thanks!

Do you have a child theme with modified templates? How did you update?

It was definitely removed from the footer in the update, so definitely shouldn’t be showing twice.
