Gif not working in thumbnails of portfolio Gallery

Hi,

I just bought and installed a fresh cardinal theme. I’m setting up a Portfolio in a Gallery Boxed style and the Thumbnails are breaking the gifs. I’ve tried to set it both as a Featured image and as a Meta Option Thumbnail Image type. In both cases the gif is not working and only the first frame is displayed, without animation. I’m used to coding, I could deal with a coding solution.

Please could you help me fix it?

I don’t believe this to be possible when using a WP Featured image, as it needs to use the full size uploaded gif and not the cropped down version.

That said, what are your login details – I’ll see if there is anything I can do to help.

This is 100% possible and I have a gif working great on my local developement version.

You just need to upload and add the gif as the Portfolio => Meta Options => Thumbnail image.

I do not see any GIF on your media library that you have uploaded?

Can you create a new gif for the actual thumbnail image, this should be the exact ratio that is needed for the thumbnail image so 400×300. By stopping the cropping, it should then work nicely.

Let us know. Any theme modifications need to be within a child theme, so if you wish to go down that route please install & activate the child theme we supply.
