Full-screen Video Buttons not working in Android browser

Hi,

I don’t know if this is a known issue or if it’s just me, but I can’t get any of my videos (or your demo vids) to play from the full-screen video button, icon only or image, using the default Android browser on my Galaxy S2 (OS V 4.1.2). Videos play fine on the same browser using your video in modal example. Why is this and is there anyway around it?

Also the video links show an underline on hover, on the same phone/browser – I’ve checked the code and it’s already set to ‘text-decoration:none!important’. Is there anything else I can do to enforce this?

Everything works fine in FF on the same phone. Anything you can do to help, would be great!

Hi Ed,

No need, it does exactly the same on your demo site too… For the record though, I should be on the latest version of everything – as follows:
WP – v3.9.1
Dante V2.61

FYI the same Android browser effects my RevSlider’s layout too (it’s mostly ok in FF) – any suggestions you have to fix that would also be appreciated. The issue concerns a tiny image positioned within some text. The image shows up in the preview when added within the text itself, as an image tag , but it doesn’t show up in the Android browser. My work-around is to add the image on a separate layer, leaving a space within the text for it to show through. Within both the Android and FF mobile browsers, the image moves out of alignment, breaking the design. I was thinking of putting the image on a transparent png that’s the full size of the slider, but I don’t think this will work as the slider’s responsive… Any thoughts how to fix this?

I haven’t provided a link because I working on the pages these issues concern, so they’re constantly changing. If you need to see an example, I could place the slider and video links onto a separate page for you – but the video issue happens with your site too.

Oh, above you said “Videos play fine on the same browser using your video in modal example.” ? Is it that you can’t get the overlay to show, or that the video play button doesn’t respond once it’s opened?

Have you updated to the latest revslider within the sticky topic? This sounds like it could be a browser incompatibility with the plugin.

FW Video links:
Everything shows as it should and looks like it’s going to work, but you can tap the play button until your finger falls off, it won’t play the video – it appears to be just a static thumbnail with no functionality. Were you able to try it for yourself with your demo vids?

‘Have you updated to the latest revslider within the sticky topic?’ – sorry, I’m not sure what you mean, what sticky topic? Currently my revslider is showing as v4.3.0.

Any thoughts on the underline link on hover, in the same browser? Not a major problem, just one I’d like to stomp out if if poss.

Yes – we’ve always been able to get them to play. My comment was merely to question that you were able to get our demo videos to work, but not yours?

Nope, it does exactly the same with your videos on your demo site (last checked a couple of days ago when I posted the comment).

Thanks the link to the sticky topic, I’ve updated (and subscribed), but oh-oh, there’s a problem…
The RevSlider I’m using only has 1 slide, before the update it would play the slide and then stop. Now that I’ve updated RevSlider (via the manual update on the RevSlider page), it plays the first slide, then clears the screen. I’ve double checked that the settings weren’t changed during the update and they seem fine. I’ve even played with the ‘General Settings’ and put them back as they were (‘Stop After Loops’ 0, ‘Stop At Slide’ 1), but it makes no difference, my slider keeps clearing the screen. Any thoughts…?

I was going to send you a screenshot before, but for some reason the screengrabber on my phone has stopped working (time for an upgrade me thinks). So, unless you can recommend a good Android app for that, I’m afraid I can’t send you one.

The underline is simply a text-decoration on hover, for the icon in the video play button (shows up under the triangle, just as it would under text). As always, it’s fine in FF, but the Android defaul (sigh)… I’ve tried targeting it with an override, but it doesn’t seem to be working. Here’s the css I tried, if you can see where I’m going wrong, that’d be great…

Regarding the Hover the video links, are you also talking about mobile device? I asking this because don’t exist hover events in Mobile since we can’t hover because there no mouse pointer. Maybe touch without releasing the finger?

The Slider seems to be ok now. And also removed the underline from the “Learn More” link in the videos.

Thanks for getting the slider back – what did you do (in case it happens again), I don’t see any changes?? Are you able to help me sort out the alignment issues on mobile? If not, I will probably have to abandon the slider anyway – it looks awful on Android default.

I’m not sure why you would target .read-more:hover – the video links aren’t ‘read more’ links, they’re video links. Either way, it hasn’t worked – the links still show an underline when touched.

Plus, don’t forget the original topic – the videos won’t play in the default Android browser (they play fine on the same browser via a modal & in FF). They still don’t work for me – do they work for you??
