    Hi!

thanks for your help david, but thats what I dont want to.
For me its much more work to add to every article a “custom excerpt”. And if somebody forgot it, the blog explodes..
thats why there is a option to make automatic excerpts after xx-words.

Thats not a real solution for the problem, that the xx-words lenght of a excerpt is ignored..

That is a perfectly viable solution. It allows full control over the output as you require, an auto expert would not provide this.

You could of course use the WordPress default excerpt function:

    Thanks,
    David.

    Hi David,

every solution that means more work than I had, can not be a perfectly solution.

Its like I tell you the elevator dosen’t work and you tell me “take the stairs its much better, because you can stop at every step you want”.

I don’t want to do anything. My blog should do what he is made for, make a excerpt by himself after 30 words 🙂

    Why is that not working?`

If you do not enter a custom excerpt it will be automatically generated.

    So you have two options:

    1) Total control over your excerpts
    2) Auto generated excerpts, that save you time but you can only control the length. If you use the page builder in your posts, you will need to use option 1.

    – Lastly, edit your blog page and set this to Excerpt.

    Thanks
