Error to import Demo Content

I have an error when i try to import the demon content (.xml File).
Here are the response from wordpress import:

Sorry, there has been an error.
This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number

What can i do?

It just happens that I needed to move my Swift Ideas test sites, and needed to do the same. However, it worked perfectly fine for me.

Can you please let me know what theme version you have and what is the full name of the .xml file you tried to import?

Hello Cosmin,
i use WordPress 3.5.1 (DE version, i hope this is not the problem).
For the import i use the file wpml-config.xml, directly in the main path/dir of the package (themeforest-3959334-supreme-retina-responsive-magazineblog-wp-theme-wordpress_theme/supreme). Is that right?

That’s not the file you need to import.

The demo content file is in the Demo Content folder and it is called supreme_demo-content.xml

“already exists” means that the files are already there, so it seems you were successful 🙂

When you get this kind of error, it usually happens that WordPress successfully imports the images (attachments), but fails at creating the posts/pages. I get this very often, with most themes.

What I do, is first time I import with “download media attachments checked”. Then, I verify under the Media menu, that the media has been imported. Usually, at this point, WP did not create any posts or pages, so I run the importer again, this time without checking that “media attachment” option. Works every time for me.
