I’m quite lost on how to add links to footer and how to customize it. Is there a step by step documentation for the footer.

Two question:

1. The social buttons are not showing.
2. How to change the footer background color

1) You need to set your social profiles in Theme Options > Social Profiles

2) In the Color Customiser which you will see in the WordPress Toolbar

How can i reduce the font size of the footer elements. I’m a 3 column layout with similar features like the one in your demo.
