Display and target portfolio categories

Hope someone can help with displaying portfolio categories.
I’ve been stuck for a very long time on basic stuff – or so I thought.

First, on my portfolio posts, I need to display the portfolio categories, associated with that given portfolio post. – Not display all existing categories.

I assumed it would be as easy as including <?php the_category ?> into a “place php code into wordpress posts” plugin.

Second, I need to assign a class to each portfolio category, so I can target the specific category in css.

This sure is possible, but I’m afraid it’s not built into the theme and would have to be modified especially for you. We’d love to help you with this customization but we are only able to provide support for basic theme issues and bug fixes.
