Direct link to external URL

Hi,

I’ve got a bunch of blog posts, which contain a small excerpt of an external blog post and a link to the post. But now, I want to have a list of these blog posts (not a problem), but I want those titles to link directly to the external URL. What is the best way to do this?

You can find an example on http://www.monk-id.nl/wie, in the section ‘Inspiratie’. I’m using version 1.61 of Flexform on a WordPress version 3.9.

Link your post to the external post and when the user clicks read more they will be forwarded to the external post

Thanks for the quick reply. This works pretty good, but still needs to be handled per post. Is there a way to fill the “External” link with the Body text? If so, I would integrate perfectly with my IFTTT recipe.

You can add the external link within your text if you like however you will still be able to click the title which will take you to the post on your website

Yeah, I already noticed that. Let me explain a little more in detail. I’ve got a IFTTT recipe, which does the following: if A happens, create a post in WordPress (post status: draft). The only reason that I don’t publish it immediately, is because I want the post to link to an external URL.

The solution you offered helps, but I still need to link the post to an external URL by hand. In the IFTTT recipe I can only specify the name of the post and the body content. So do you know a solution that makes the external link out of the body text (e.g. place the body text automatically in the external link field)? If so, it would help me create an automatic way to share posts.

Unfortunately there is no way to set a link automatically. You could highlight the content you want to be the link and add the link through the WordPress editor.
