    I am selling digital downloads. However, I would like to provide some free download for certain products as promotion. Is there a way to do this without have the user go through the checkout?

    When adding a free product, treat your free product as ‘external product/affiliate’ Then ‘add to cart’ button will disappear. there will be an option to rename the button to any name as you like.
    E.G. You can name it ‘download’ and then link the button to the free file.
