Customizing the URL for portfolio and products

Hi,
I have installed Neighborhood theme and need to change the URL for better SEO improvement. I want to change the portfolio to oppskrifter (Norwegian for recepies) and product to produkt. I have tried to change the permalinks under settings, but this makes everything but ?product= a 404 error.

I have tried to search for other similar problems but was hoping someone here could help me out. Let me know what kind of info you need and I’ll provide it to you.

The site is hidden now when I develop, but the test URL will be http://www.taga.no/wp2013

I checked that its not theme issue . I would like to suggest you to disable plugin one by one and check and let me know your feedback .Hope it will help you .

Hi,
This works for products, but I still have a problem with URL ?portfolio=.

Products are displaying correct when disabling all plugins and activate one by one again. I found the plugin that caused it, but I still can’t change the permalinks for portfolio to oppskrifter (Norwegian for recepies). Shouldn’t this option be located under permalinks next to the others?

Wait a minute. I don’t get an 404 here. It seems that whatever you’ve done it now loads the wanted URL: http://www.taga.no/wp2013/oppskrifter/serrano-antipasti/

Earlier it was ?portfolio=

Let me test some more and come back to you.

It seems that everything works fine now. What did you do?

The only small issue is that the category gets the same URL as the page
http://www.taga.no/wp2013/oppskrifter/
Which means that the category is displayed instead of the page.

I can make a way around this by changing the URL of the page. And I guess that’s ok. If you don’t have a better solution?

Your solution is flexible and i made changes in functions.php at child theme so you will not lost any changes on theme update .
