    Hi,

Does Cardinal support custom post formats in a child theme? I’m trying to create an alternate style of post and the usual template hierarchy is not working.

Specifically, I’m looking to lose author names, likes, and favorites, and have the option of using a featured image that shows within the post content rather than at the top.

    Thanks,
    Meagan

    Hi,

Guess you are trying to create a new custom post type, Cardinal has no restriction on that.

Can you provide further details on your issue? To see if his something we can help or not?

    Hi Rui,

Thanks so much for the quick reply!

I’d like to have a new type of post format used for items in the category “review” that uses a slightly different layout than what I get by adding a new post–basically, I’d like to be able to override the default formatting I get in a standard new post.

Creating the category isn’t a problem, but when I copy single.php to my child theme and rename it “single-reviews.php” I can’t get the content to display in the new template. Basically, I’m unclear on what steps I need to take to override the default formatting in the template.

Both themes are installed on the server and the child theme is active per standard protocol.

    Hi,
Please refer this article http://codex.wordpress.org/Post_Type_Templates. Hope that should help to you.

    Thanks
