When a user presses the “create an Account” button in the checkout, a pop-up appears asking for username, password, and password confirmation. However if you press the ‘create an account’ button in the my-account page, there is an extra field for email (which is of course a crucial information to collect).
So I would like to add a field to the “create an account” form in checkout page for collecting new users email addresses as well.
November 20, 2013 at 1:12 pm #32281Hi, I don’t understand. If there’s already a field for the email, why do you need to create a new one?
November 20, 2013 at 1:17 pm #32288The create account option in checkout page does NOT have a Email address field for users to enter.
November 21, 2013 at 10:07 am #32532I think it’s the file form-login.php in the shop subfolder of the woocommerce folder, but let me ask the developer about that to confirm.
Cheers
November 22, 2013 at 4:24 am #32716I’m having the same issue as oytamuah. The e-mail field is not visible in the popup window when trying to register from within the shopping cart when checking out. I attached a screenshot of what we’re seeing. The address field is visible if you try to register from outside of the shopping cart/checkout process. Hope this screenshot gives you a better idea of the problem. The issue is the same for mobile devices and desktop computers.
November 22, 2013 at 12:45 pm #32784Hi there,
Unfortunately it doesn’t seem like WooCommerce has this functionality. The form within the checkout is part of the checkout process, not the same as the my-account create account form.
You can see a list of the fields available here – http://docs.woothemes.com/document/tutorial-customising-checkout-fields-using-actions-and-filters/
I’m not sure if WooCommerce have a reason for this, but it’s not available for us to include it in the theme.
Just checked the settings for WooCommerce, and there is this option which you might want to try – https://www.dropbox.com/s/mjspe9r0umo5e28/Screenshot%202013-11-22%2012.44.57.png

November 22, 2013 at 5:04 pm #32849Ed I tried checking that box to ‘register email as the username’, but it just removes the username field and doesn’t add an email field. So it essentially just shows a password field (like the screenshot ibjuan attached) which is VERY strange and non-functional.
November 22, 2013 at 7:45 pm #32866Hi Ed, checking that option doesnt help (I tried that before posting last night). I think I see what you’re saying and correct me if I’m wrong, but can’t this theme skip the registration popup and just add the password fields to the bottom of the checkout screen? Attached is a screenshot that better describes where I’m getting at. It’s from a test website I have which still runs Woocommerce 1 but uses a different theme. The registration process at checkout is easier: just check the “create account” box, at the end of the billing & shipping form, and type in a password. This method is grabbing the new users’ email address from that form and just gives you the option of adding a password to create an account on the same form. Assuming Woocommerce2 still works this way, I don’t see why there needs to be a popup to register at checkout.
If the registration process can’t be done like in my screenshot, I’d rather have all customers checkout as guests with no option to register. I tried this but the checkout screen still gives the option to log in or create an account. Anyway to eliminate these account forms/links?
November 25, 2013 at 8:29 am #33191We’re going to look into it this week, and hopefully improve our checkout process. We’ll get any changes we make into the update this week.
Thanks for the feedback, we really appreciate it.

December 2, 2013 at 5:02 pm #34834Hello, I found a work around.
I re-route the button that opens the lightbox asking only for password to go to the my account page… that way I make sure the user can register successfully.
This can be done on this file: wp-content/themes/neighborhood/woocommerce/checkout/form-checkout.php
On line 197 change the href to point to your site “My Account” page
I’m attaching a screenshoot for your reference.
Hope this is useful for somebody.
