    Dear support,

I have just bought the beautiful theme “Atelier”. Thanks for it.

Because I am quite new to WordPress I have one question to start:
Is it suggested to work with child-theme so that my changes of the “Atelier”-theme (colors, menus…) are not affected when updating “Atelier”, WordPress or WooCommerce?
What would you recommend me to avoid updating problems like resetting my changes?

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    Greets.

    Hi @hanswoscht

    You’re welcome!

The theme’s colours set in the customiser are dynamically output to the page, so to override these in the child theme css would need !important for each declaration, or a more specific selector. If you aren’t going to have too much css, then we’d definitely recommend using the custom css box in Theme Options > Custom CSS. This is very easy to use, has a built-in editor, and will stick with theme updates.

    Hope that helps.

It doesn’t have any problems, but it will require you to use !important if you are overriding dynamic colour styling.

If you do need to use an external editor, then you can always copy that code to the custom css box.

    Thanks,

    – Ed
