Change default English to other languages

Hi,
I wonder if there’s a way to change words/texts like for example “Search”, “Type something and hit enter”, “Browse FAQ topics”, etc, etc? I would like to translate those words into another language.

Thanks Cosmin, but I find it all really scary! I was hoping for a more simple method: I changed the text on the 404-page, that was easy! (Appearance > editor)
For arguments sake: lets say I wanted to change “Type something and hit enter to search” into “Type here what you’re looking for”, how would you do that?

Ah you’d have to actually change the theme files if you were looking to change the core text

That string from the search box is also translatable with the tutorial I mentioned in my link above.

Please use that guide, as changes to theme files will be lost when updating the theme.

Thanks Cosmin. So just to be sure: if I wanted to change the default text “Type something and hit enter to search” into another English text (eg. “Search this site”) I would also use the method as you mentioned?

Another question: I try to browse the answers in the forum to harass you as little as possible, but when I enter my purchase verification number, nothing happens… (on Mac>Firefox/Safari/Chrome)

Yep, that’s correct, the tutorial will work in that case too.

Your purchase verification number works only for the forum of the theme you’ve purchased – maybe you were trying it for a different theme?
