When we delete items from the cart icon in our header, they are still there after the site is refreshed. We believe there is a problem with the ajax call or something related, but cannot find the error ourselves.

Steps to reproduce error:
1. add an item to cart.
2. delete it from the cart via the cart icon in the header
3. refresh the page, the items are back!

Can you disable your child theme and re-test. Please also add a WP login for us.

This is not something I can replicate on my dev version which would point to something on your envriometn causing this.

Can you update the settings in this to both be https: http://d.pr/i/DccR.

Please also add your FTP details.
