Carousel minimum items – responsive?

I’m having an issue where on any carousel (blog, portfolio are the ones I’ve tried) the navigation arrows don’t work when there are fewer than five items in the carousel. This makes sense when viewing on a normal sized screen – there are four columns across and after four items the arrows will scroll. However, when viewing on a mobile device such as a phone, the arrows ought to work when there are two or more items in the carousel since there is now only one column (and thus one portfolio item) showing. Is there something I’m missing in the code or settings somewhere to fix this? Try adding the following to the custom css box within theme options:

.carousel-wrap a.hidden {
display: none!important;
}
