I can’t install Dante on my wordpress. I’m trying to do it on a local server XMPP with my MAC OS X EL CAPITAN.

As you can see on the attachment, the installation fail at creating the Dante folder.

And if i try to copy the full directory in wp-content/themes/ , then i have the “css file missing” issue….

I’l be glad to get some help.

    sorry for the english.

    Hello,

    As explained in my topic…

when i try to “copy the Dante directory in wp-content/themes/ , then i have the “css file missing” issue….”

Damaged theme – impossible to read the css sheet file… I looked and the css file is here.

Unfortunately your answer doesn’t help me. Maybe you have another suggestion ?

    Thank you

    Hi,
You get an error saying that the stylesheet is missing, then you have uploaded the wrong folder. Please check that you are uploading the dante/dante.zip within the Theme Files folder. You may have to unzip the file that you download from ThemeForest to find this.

    Thanks
    Mohammad

Unfortunately you don’t understand what i try to explain… Maybe i’m not clear at all.

I tried two different situations and both are supposed to be ok, i do them correctly, i’m positive.

1 first situation – i upload the good zip file “dante/dante.zip within the Theme Files folder” and then i have the error mentionned on my first message with the first screenshot.

Impossible to create the file /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/wp-content/themes/dante/
    Installation failed.

After that I tryed to create this folder by myself before installing but that’s not the solution either

2 second situation – i did (before you explain it to me) “extract the Dante theme archive directory and place at /wp-content/themes/”

And this is where i get the “css sheet missing” !!!

So no what do we do ? You tel me how i get a refund ?

    Thx

    Hi,
I explain you step by step to install a theme locally.
1- Please download the theme from themeforest.

2- You will get dante.zip file.

    3- Extract dante.zip directory.

4- Now you have extracted dante directory. open this dante directory, here you will get another directory named dante. Copy this directory and paste at /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/wp-content/themes/.

5- Now go to Appearance > Themes, and activate “Dante”.

    Thanks
    Mohammad

Ok… So now it’s gonna be the third time i explain you i already tried to install it locally and that i get the css file missing error. I’m sorry i try to keep my calm but i’m really starting to think that you are not understanding me on purpose. I know my english isn’t that bad.

And by the way, your step by step explanation is confused. You know why ?

1 – when you download the theme (installable wordpress file only) here is the name of the file

    themeforest-6175269-dante-responsive-multipurpose-wordpress-theme-wordpress-theme

so how am i suppose to follow your step by step if you begin with a mistake…

Anyway when i unzip this file i get a dante directory. NO TRACE OF ANOTHER DANTE DIRECTORY IN IT so this is the one i paste in /Applications/XAMPP/xamppfiles/htdocs/wp-content/themes/. I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE. AND I GET THE CSS FILE MISSING ERROR…..

But maybe i downloaded the wrong file…. So now i try with the “all files and documentation”…. STILL not named dante.zip but :
    themeforest-6175269-dante-responsive-multipurpose-wordpress-theme

When i open it… I have a Theme Files DIrectory, and in this Files directory i have a dante.zip file. SO i unzip it and i get the same dante directory than before…. STILL NOT ANOTHER DANTE DIRECTORY IN IT AND STILL THE SAME CSS FILE MISSING ERROR.

Please, i beg you, be serious, read my mail before answering, and if iyou have to give me a step by step operation, try it first to be sure we have the same file’s names.

Please test this Dante theme folder: https://www.dropbox.com/s/oqkxv93ju52kkxq/dante.zip?dl=0.

Extract the zip and add that to your wp-content/themes folder.

    Thanks.

Thank you…. I don’t understand…. I managed to make it work at home on my PC two days ago. At work, on my Mac, the situation has improved with the file you gave me … But the problem is not solved yet.

Wordpress sees the theme (but there is no background image – see picture 1) and i successfully activated it.

But when i try to custom the theme… Then it’s the Apocalypse. (see picture 2 – all the mentionned files are at the right place…)

I think the best solution would be to quit my job and work home. I repeat, i’m on mac, os x el capitan, trying to install my theme on local with xampp.

Any suggestion ? I think we are close… really close to victory

The PHP errors state Permission Denied on your local folder. Please amend the permissions of your folders.

This is not a theme issue, this is related to your specific dev environment.

    Thanks.

Right click the folder, and look for the permissions tab.

    Thanks.
