    Hello,

I just purchased the theme and downloaded the theme files. Then uploaded to wordpress through the theme uploader. The files uploaded ok, but I could not activate or see the live preview. Instead a white screen appeared and wordpress was not available. Simply errors messages. Is there a file missing perhaps? I’ve had this error in the past when activating new themes. The quick fix is going into the database directly and changing the theme name and stylesheet name back to the previous theme. However, this does not solve the problem with the new theme not working. Please help.

    Thank you.

    Hi Lena,

I had the same problem. The theme conflicts somewhere with plug-ins, especially WooCommerce extensions. What worked for me was to select all of my plugins, deactivate them and then activate the theme. If you’re using a child theme activate at this point, if not, go back and activate your plug-ins.

I should also mention that if you are using WooCommerce and/or any WooCommerce extensions you’ll need to activate Twenty Twelve temporarily while you activate all your plugins. Once all your plugins are activated you can then go back and activate the Neighborhood theme.

    Hope that helps,
    Nathan

I was hoping it would work “out of the box”.

After following the recommendation above – deactivating all plugins, then activating the Twenty Twelve theme, activating a few plugins (WooCommerce, WooCommerce Table Rate Shipping and WooDoJo and the recommended plugins for the Neighborhood theme), then the Neighborhood theme, I attempted to activate the WooSlider plugin. An error occurred.

“Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.”
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class WooSlider in /home/lenabrow/public_html/wp/wp-content/plugins/wooslider/classes/class-wooslider.php on line 25

It appears there is a conflict with the WooSlider plugin. Honestly, I don’t know if I will need it with the theme, but will keep it off for now.

For the moment, the theme is up and running. However, when I update the theme in the future will I have to go through the same steps?

    Thank you for your assistance.

Hey there, nope you should be able to simply remove the theme via FTP and reupload it without problems!

    All the best
