I’ve scoured the forums checking for ways to resolve this:

    1) I’ve cleared the cache.
    2) I deactivated all plugins.
    3) I upped the memory (and lowered it, as it wasn’t the issue).

I get the following ONLY when I try to update Theme Options – not with any other updates on this WP site:

“There was a problem with your action. Please try again or reload the page.”

If you need to go login, please let me know.

    Help!

    Hi,

Will definitely need to login to check what is going on.
    Provide the necessary credentials.
    Thanks

Yes, I know. It’s why I provided it when I posted. In that special section. Do you have access to that?

Yes I do but you set to let you know if we need to login. Nevermind.

I access the site and it seems there is a 500 internal server error when we try to save the theme options.

Can you try to disable all plugins except SwiftFramework and test again.
Also we need to see what is the error on your server, check the error server log and attach here that log.

    Thanks

This seems an issue in your server extensions configuration, nothing related to the theme or WordPress.
Contact your hosting support with this information to see what they have to say.

Even though the issue ONLY happens with theme options? And with no other area of the site?

Please understand. You guys are SO much more competent and responsive than them. I’m not even convinced they can figure anything out.

It’s fired by the theme options because something isn’t configured like it should. The error doesn’t break in the theme code, it’s explicit in the error log that some php extension or module isn’t properly configured or we would have the same issue in thousands of customers WordPress instalations.

Ask them to see what they have to say, we are just trying to help. If is something on our side we fix it, if not we can only point the direction.

Well, this time it was alarmingly easy. I got someone who knew his stuff. Which happens about 50% of the time with these guys.

Apparently the site hadn’t been updated to PHP 5.6. So for those running into this issue with no clear solutions, that may be the problem.

    Thanks for the help!

Nice, Glad it’s sorted. So my suspicions were right.
