My client requires the ‘Blog’ page to appear as the root page (after the home page) in the breadcrumbs for single blog posts.

To achieve this the required NavXT plugin needs the blog page to be set under settings > reading > blog posts.

Your theme however is not built to be compatible with this, specifically requiring that one does not set a page under settings > reading > blog posts.

Due to the theme I therefore cannot show the ‘Blog’ page as the root in my breadcrumbs on single blog posts.

This is bad for search engine optimisation.

Using the required NavXT plugin, how do I go about showing the ‘Blog’ page as the root page in my single blog post breadcrumbs?

I want to avoid having to set up a category called ‘Blog’, as this would be duplication which is also bad for search engine optimisation.

I would also like to clarify here that the incompatibility is due to the theme, not the plugin.

As such, please don’t ask me to follow this up with the plugin developers.

    Hi

This is not an issue with the theme. You can set a page as your posts page in settings > reading however that uses the archive layout, which you can set in Theme Options > Archive / Category options however you have less control over it as it doesn’t use the page builder for the page

Setting the blog page in settings > reading results in the title of the blog page being incorrect.

The title of the page then becomes the title of the most recent blog post, rather than the title of the page itself.

I therefore cannot set my blog page in settings > reading.

Looks like you need to update your sf_page_heading function to fix this.

I’ve tested it multiple times, it works. I wouldn’t supply it to you if it wasn’t correct.

This is terrible, every time you do this to me I fall another twelve hours behind schedule on this project.

Have you read the details I supplied properly? The site is protected by htaccess rules, this is the first provided login (this login appears as a pop up). The user name & password are the same for this.

The wp login url is a custom url, which has been supplied.

Are you not copying and pasting the wp password correctly? It starts with a : and ends with a s

Why cant you troubleshoot this on a local install anyway? As has been the case with my other support requests, it’s got nothing to do with the specifics of my site – it’s an inherent issue in the theme.

This is a common WP themeing issue. Details on it here, here, here & here.

This is the last theme issue I need to iron out before the site is made live. Because of all this unnecessary back and forth I’m now really, really far behind schedule. Not good.

    Hi @Stephen,

I apologise for the time it’s taken to get this properly looked at – you are right, it shouldn’t require a login to your site and I have taken this waste of time up with the team.

I’ll look into this immediately and get back to you as soon as I can.

    Thanks Ed, much appreciated mate.

Is that theme version you’ve linked to version 3.03?

I ask because I’m being prompted to automatically update to 3.03 (from 3.02) through my dashboard and I’m wondering whether this will resolve the issue? I don’t see any mention of the issue being resolved in 3.03 in the changelog.

    Cheers,
    Henry
