Hi,
We’re uploading images to the media library with 1200×1000 px. We also use this sized images when defining the thumbnail image in the portfolio items.
When using the page builder portfolio (or portfolio carousel) we get in the front end very low quality and blurry images. In the front end the images are displayed has 270×202 and refer to a file with 420×315. We feel that the compression used is very poor quality and since we’re showing highly detailed jewellery that’s very disturbing. We’d like to know where and when exactly is the compression applied since in the media library the image is full 1200×1000 quality.

Many thanks,

November 22, 2013 at 2:56 am #32711Hi,
Those will be resized to 420*315 (4:3), so you can add a image in that ratio or a higher, it will resize to 420*315, for me the image looks no blurry, it looks clean.
Let me know, what you got.
Thanks,
laranz.February 20, 2014 at 7:25 pm #50627Hi Laranz,
I ran into the same problem. Not all images can be resized to that aspect ratio and keep its quality without being cropped. My question is, where to change the 420*315 (4:3) aspect ratio? I have my images as 500px by 500px and I do not want it to be cropped when resized as a thumbnail. I’d prefer it to be 250px by 250px thumbnails in the slider.
February 24, 2014 at 1:08 pm #51301Hey, are we talking about the portfolio slider? Can you post up a link?
February 26, 2014 at 3:19 am #51875I’m having the same problem with my product thumbnails across my website (product page, or previews). They are also 1200×1200 px and show very blurred as thumbnails. I just went to make sure I also had the PHP memory high in my cpanel.
Additionally when at a product description page, when I click to enlarge, it enlarges and squishes the image. I would like it to automatically open to the largest size available since the first zoom is not any larger than the original preview image, and is squished.
Thank you ๐
February 26, 2014 at 3:50 am #51876I have set the product image to the automatic zoom now, so that solves that.
So with the blurry images: If I am in the page for one of my products for example and I have the “shop products” thumbs at the bottom of the page, those are showing blurry.
February 26, 2014 at 4:39 am #51882This Plug-in solved it all. Images are now crisp and clear.

April 15, 2014 at 6:11 pm #67428Hi!
I’m having similar issues with image quality and I’ve spent 3 hours trying to fix it. I’ve installed “Simple Image Sizes” but I might not be putting in the right values in the right places or something (please see image of my settings).
The biggest problem is product detail image, please see:
http://monroedesign.se/produkt/zlatan-mork/
1. I would definitely like the product detail image in better quality. It is crisp when you click on it and get the pop-up but I need the actual product detail image to be crisp.
2. Just like @flying_man my pop-up product image is also squished into the wrong ratio. How do I keep original ratio? Please see image.
Please help!
