Hi, On my blog list page I have a right sidebar. However when you click through to the single post I want to have the same sidebar. I know I can do this manually on each post but this is not a good way to do at as it means you have to do it every time. I would like to set a default so that post always have a sidebar. How do I do this?

    Hi,

Can you try the options in the screenshot below.

hi, i have already tried that and it doesn’t work. also, i need to keep the default for other pages anyway. i need to be able to control the default sidebar for posts only, not a general default sidebar.

as you can see this does not work at all http://181.224.135.157/~olivemas/www.productmanagementtraining.com/example-post-title/

there must be an easy way to do such a simple and obvious thing?! you have it on your demo http://themeforest.net/item/dante-responsive-multipurpose-wordpress-theme/full_screen_preview/6175269

    Hi

The post default sidebar is only for posts, it should work for all new posts. Any posts already published will need to add the sidebar manually as it’s not possible for the default to overwrite published post meta

okay, yes that works for new posts http://181.224.135.157/~olivemas/www.productmanagementtraining.com/test/

the problem is that i need to use that sidebar for my events page http://181.224.135.157/~olivemas/www.productmanagementtraining.com/events/

there must be a way to specify which sidebar i can use for the blog posts without just using the default sidebar?

You can, go to the post meta settings at the bottom of the page and go to sidebar settings

do you mean on each individual post? that is not ideal at all. there must be a simple way to choose a sidebar to be used for blog post without being restricted to “default”?

    Here are your options:

    1) Set a default sidebar in Theme Options > Default Meta Options (see screenshot) – This will be used for all NEW posts (because it is not possible to override settings for published blog posts without doing it on the post itself

    2) If you don’t want to use the default sidebar set in theme options, you can go to the post meta settings and set a different sidebar

If you are asking to override all sidebars on published posts, I’m afraid that’s not possible

hi, sorry i don’t think i’m explaining properly. i get what your saying but as there is only one default template (except for the two holding page ones) this means that from what you’re saying i can only set one sidebar option into that default template? However I have two areas of my site that pull from the default template; one it the individual blog posts and one is (in effect) individual event posts (from a plugin). However I want these two “posts” to use a different sidebar. Is this possible?

I’m afraid not, the plugin is a third party plugin so how are we supposed to cater for that? You will have to set the sidebar individually for each event post
