Hi there, we are hoping you can help?
We are having a few issues with the consistency of images when our blog pages are shared. We allow people to share our blog posts (www.sewhwhatsnew.co.uk/blog) on pinterest, twitter & Facebook. Plus we want to encourage people to follow us on blog readers such a Blogger, Bloglovin & Feedly.
When people use the share links for Twitter and Pinterest it seems to always share the image which has been selected. When sharing with Facebook it seems to randomly change the image which has been selected to either another image from the same blog post, and image from a different post or even the header logo. I can’t work out why this is happening?
When I look at the blog readers, only a few posts have an image and I can’t work out why.
– Blogger for example has images on the early posts but not the recent ones https://www.blogger.com/home
– Bloglovin has one post with an image but none of the others do although they have been created in the same way https://www.bloglovin.com/feed/blog/13228215
– Feedly selects a random image from the body of the post, some of the posts show the full article and others just the home page blog snippet which is in the Custom Excerpt field. https://feedly.com/i/spotlight/sewwhatsnew.co.ukDo you have a best practice guide to ensuring that images are displayed in such readers and so that they can be easily shared?
When creating a post we add a feature image, a thumbnail image as well as the images which are added into the body of the page. We don’t have a background image or a post detail type. Please can you give us a definition of these different image types so we understand how they are used?
Many thanks in advance, we are completely puzzled so any advice would really help.
February 4, 2015 at 10:36 am #147097Hi,
1. Can you try this plugin nextgen-facebook ( https://wordpress.org/plugins/nextgen-facebook/ ) it helps for the facebook sharing issue.
2. We don’t try blogvin and feedly before, and don’t know how it works. Can you just read its documentation or contact its support how they grab the feature image and excerpts?
Let us know,
Thanks,

laranz.February 17, 2015 at 3:16 pm #150955Hi,
Ok so we’ve installed and activated the Next GenFacebook plugin, however bloglovin still fails to pick up an image.
Their guidelines are that feature images in blogs must be .jpg which ours are and also that your RSS feed is valid.
The second is something we have never changed or amended in any way, so I’m baffled as to why this changed all of a sudden. See screenshot attached.
We think that it may have occurred on all blog publishing since upgrading to the latest version of Dante.
Can you please support us in checking the RSS feed?
Or alternatively if any users are willing to share their blog URL that is based on the Dante theme so that we can look at it via Bloglovin, to see if there is another person with the same issue?
Many thanks in advance,

I don’t work with Dante before, you can check our demo there? Or some users website they listed here: http://www.swiftideas.com/forums/topic/showcase-your-dante-website/ Please keep us updated, we will surely help you as much as we can to resolve it.
Also, make sure you follow all the blogvin rules about the image, and if possible contact their support about it.
The website you shared take me to an unavailable site, can you pass me the right one, to check the feeds. Feeds actually presents like this,
http://example.com/?feed=rss http://example.com/?feed=rss2 http://example.com/?feed=rdf http://example.com/?feed=atom
For more about feeds, http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Feeds#Finding_Your_Feed_URL see the codex page on WordPress site.

laranz.February 18, 2015 at 12:37 pm #151209Hi,
I’ve ensured that I have conformed with the image parameters set by Bloglovin.com and other readers etc.
All images are set as .jpg and I’ve attached a screen shot of the RSS settings in our Dante theme.
Should the RSS be set to ?feed=rss2 or http://www.sewwhatsnew.co.uk/?feed=rss2
If you wish, I’d be happy to give you admin rights to log in to our site http://www.sewwhatsnew.co.uk and have a look for yourself.
Best regards,

Sorry, I don’t know much about that blogvin, if they need the featured image alone means, it should work. If any ways to contact their support, I suggest you to do so.
2. This is the RSS FEED http://www.sewwhatsnew.co.uk/?feed=rss2 with default permalinks structure, and this too work with other permalinks http://sewwhatsnew.co.uk/feed/
