    Hi,
I’ve made hundreds of pages using the page builder assets. So the content contains elements that are the same but text/images that are different.

I need to update the assets to change the layouts.

I’ve tried looking for export pages to csv tools so I can split the columns and mass update what I want and then re-import. However, there are few plugins to export pages and non seem to be working.

I guess I could do this with an xml editor, but I am not too familiar with that.

Any guidance or ideas on the best way to manage these sorts of changes would be a big help.

    Thanks

    Hi,

    I understand your situation.

But if your content is very specific in each page changing text/images it would be difficult to find a good solution.

    Hi Rui,
That’s not exactly what I meant.

Let’s say I have 100 pages all using the same page builder layout and different text in text assets.

I want to add a widget row below the text asset and a large space above the text asset.

I could export the pages to csv. Split text to columns, copy paste the new page builder set up and re-combine into one text field to reimport.

    Simple!

Just need to find a way to export to csv or to apply this bulk update.

    Hi Andrew,

Not sure if this will be of use to you, but we have developed some functionality for the next feature update where you can set up “Page Builder Sections” which you can use on as many pages as you like, and only need to update in one place.

Obviously this wouldn’t allow for different text however, in which case you’d need to do your method.

Hi Pothe, I too have the same issue as have 1000s of posts that I need to update. Although I love the theme and the styling functionality i’ve had to abadon Cardinal for the same reason. Doing it manually is kind of a deal breaker. As its becoming normal for the average wordpress user to have been going for a couple of years I feel its going to become a recurring issue…

    hi @Fez

What part of the post do you need to update? As Ed stated in his comment above we have added a feature that allows you to use a page builder section on as many pages/posts and you like and you will only need to change it once and it will apply to all of your pages/posts

    Hi Kyle and Ed,
I’ve update and started to play with the new SPB sections. However, not sure I understand their usage totally.

From what I can see it’s a little like widget functionality. All content will be the same each time it’s used. So I could have a collection of widgets and then have control over which widgets to display on all pages that use this section. It’s quite a nice extra feature but doesn’t solve my issue.

    For example.
I have catalogue pages that use a page builder layout mixing top text section in a row, with a product short code section below and then some widget sections and also some SEO text etc.

    Proposal…
Imagine the SPB section but with a twist. When you add it to a page it still shows all the individual page builder assets, but fixed. They cannot be deleted, moved or changed in size etc. We can only add the content that we want to display on each page. The size, layout and elements are all controlled by the master SPB section.

So we’d have to types of SPB sections. The one you have just released for fixed content and another for variable content.

This would be very powerful. It could serve as a whole page template or as sections within a page.

    What do you think?

    Hi,

The idea of the Sections is to group content that is used several times in different places.
I understand your idea, it’s more close to design a Page Template where the assets can be only edited.Later you can change that page template and all the pages will adapt.

It sounds good. Will forward to Ed so we can give is thoughts.

    @Kyle

I have 1000s of posts that I would like to apply columns styles etc.

Obviously I can save the template of how I want things to look, but then i have to go into each post and copy and paste the texts into the sections etc.

From what I gather there isn’t an option to say set up 4 styles for example and apply them to different categories or pages and the content is moved or edited accordingly.

No I’m afraid that’s far too advanced, there are 3 options:

    1) Saved Page Templates – allows you to save all of elements and layout on that page, and import into other pages

    2) Saved Elements – Allows you to save a static element, and import into other pages

    3) Page builder sections – these are dynamic sections that can be used on multiple pages, and to update all pages you just update the section once and it will apply to all pages

    Thanks Kyle,

Unfortunately still in the same situation. Love the theme but as you can imagine editing 1000s of posts is not ideal so will have to leave.

Also tried to explore as the other poster mentioned the option of exporting all content to CSV and updating with SPB shortcodes before and after content etc in excel and re-importing a few weeks ago, but no luck. Will keep an eye out if things change with Cardinal.

@Fez will forward to Ed if there is any possible workaround, but like Kyle said this is an advanced specification.

    Hi @Fez,

If you could show me an example of this kind of functionality, I’d happily check it out and see what we can do for a future update.

    Thanks,

    @Rui – Thanks
@Ed – Thanks, will do! Like i said, love the theme.
It would be killer if in future there was a global control for posts like there are for pages.
    So a global disable of:
    Page titles
    Post header type
    Media Display
    Remove article pagination etc etc

Otherwise this all has to be done manually for each post.

    Hi @Fez,

There is the option of setting default meta options, but is this something you want to be able to override through the theme options to set no matter what option is used in the post?
