That update is giving me an infinitely spinning loader on every page…
April 28, 2017 at 5:33 pm #322792@wolfl – do you get an error in the console log?

Please disable the performance option in the theme options (Scripts), that should sort that. We’ll look at the reason for the error in the minificaiton process.

May 2, 2017 at 10:13 am #322983Switching off the loading of minified scripts got the pages working again.
The variation images show in the thumbnail gallery now, so we’re back to the original (correct) functionality again.
But I now can’t select the thumbnails to be on the left, they’re always positioned at the bottom, no matter what I select in the Theme Options.
Also, the loading of the images is still odd, with the whole div being re-rendered every time I select a variation. It causes a visible shifting of the layout and brief flashing of the product images in wrong positions before they appear. The lens effect is also still loading the wrong (smaller) image to overlay the static one.
May 2, 2017 at 11:47 am #323000As with wolfl I still have the same issues, i.e “The lens effect is also still loading the wrong (smaller) image to overlay the static one.” and variations are loading, but half way down the page.
Thanks
May 3, 2017 at 1:51 am #323099Do you guys still have this on a test site, so that we can do some further debugging? It seems to be relating to the image sizes set for the additional images – the loading of this the theme has no control over.
It think you would see the same issue on the default WordPress theme, if the image area was larger.
In regards to the left option not working, I have it working 100% here – http://swiftideas.d.pr/UcVT2/4Z3LvbtK
Give that a try?

May 3, 2017 at 9:15 am #323116Hi Ed
I’ve removed one image which was in portrait and that has allowed the Variation images to show below the main image, so that is sorted, I will just need to resize the portrait image.
Still encountering the issue of the image overlaying the static one instead of zooming in. Any ideas on how to sort that?
Thanks again
May 3, 2017 at 3:46 pm #323192May 3, 2017 at 3:51 pm #323193Well, it’s weird. I wrote the (lengthy) comment, used some HTML tags that came out wrong, edited it and then it disappeared. Then I tried to repost it and it didn’t show up. Anyway, here’s another try:
OK, I’ve done some more comparisons and debugging. The main problems appear to be Woocommerce’s fault (not the theme’s), but for the benefit of others who have these issues I have listed them here.
Premise: nothing has changed since before the Woocommerce 3 update. The products are using the same images, all the product images (default and variations) are exactly the same proportion/size (1200×1550). NB: I have always been able to add whatever size/orientation of image I chose to the product gallery or variation images. So that should not affect anything, but for the purpose of testing I’m using images that are all the same.
Issue 1
The Theme Option “Product slider thumbs position” not having any effect. This seems to be caused by custom CSS in our child theme (resizing the product page layout slightly). Very frustrating, because that modification didn’t cause any issues until the Woocommerce update and it’s a redesign that’s replicated across the site.Issue 2
When switching variations, the images get loaded with a few ms delay and get rendered in the wrong position first (right bottom corner). This does not happen when I click on the thumbnail images – they still slide in from the side as expected.
This appears to be a Woocommerce bug because it also happens when using the TwentySixteen theme.Issue 3
The overlay image for the product zoom is correct on page load, but it is the wrong size once a variation has been chosen.
This appears to be a Woocommerce bug because it also happens when using the TwentySixteen theme.I suppose we have to either choose a different product slider to replace the theme’s default Woocommerce one, or send bug reports to Automattic with the hope that they will fix them in a future update.
May 3, 2017 at 3:55 pm #323196So, @jfirth8, I think it’s mainly to do with the Woocommerce plugin update.
I’ve gone ahead and bought a product gallery plugin instead, which is very good and works perfectly. The developer is good and helpful (Swift Ideas use his Quickview plugin for this theme), maybe it’s an option for you too: https://codecanyon.net/item/woothumbs-awesome-product-imagery/2867927
May 3, 2017 at 3:58 pm #323199Thanks @wolfl. In regards to Issue #1 – we had to move the class we used to denote that the slider should use left thumbs, as the additional images plugin was removing the class upon updating the slider.
May 3, 2017 at 4:03 pm #323200@Ed
That’s strange because it used to work fine with the Additional Images plugin.
I have to take back what I said about issue #1 by the way, it wasn’t custom CSS but a slightly mangled content-single-product.php file in our child theme. When updating that template to WC 3.0, something must have gone wrong and it was missing the vital product gallery code changes. So not so mysterious after all…
May 3, 2017 at 4:42 pm #323208@wolfl thanks for the info… downloaded that Plugin works perfectly… will be raising the issue of the Variation Plugin with Woocommerce.
@Ed thank you for your time and patience with this matter
Thanks again
May 3, 2017 at 4:54 pm #323209Yes – with 3.0.0 they changed their product imagery setup, changing the slider, the lightbox, and adding built-in zoom. This is the change that has caused everyone to have to adapt their code.
