I am looking to utilize the alt-backgrounds on the full-width text blocks on many pages, in order to have large section background images.

Can I add additional alt-background images? (more than 10)

Or is there a better way to achieve this same look?

You can view an example of how I woud like to use the images here: http://shamanism2.wpengine.com/about-2/

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,

Not really, but here’s what I’d do:

    – add an extra class to the text element
    – use custom CSS in the theme options to define a unique background image for each extra class I add.

    Example:

    .myFirstExtraClass {background: url("http://mysite.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/bg1.jpg") 0 0 no-repeat;}

    Regards,

    Hi Nico,

To be honest, adding custom css would be much less bloated than adding alt backgrounds.

We’d love to be able to offer to do the work, but unfortunately we simply don’t have the time. All the time we have at the moment is spent on theme design/updates/development, and support.

Best of luck, whichever way you decide to go 🙂

    Hi Ed,

Thanks again for your reply. I figured you would not have the time.

To clarify, I was inquiring about adding a custom field to the full-width text item, which would simply allow to select a full width background image from the media gallery or upload an image. Rather than adding more alt-backgrounds to the FlexForm Theme settings.

What do you think about us doing this vs. the custom css option? My main concern is making the page creation as user-friendly as possible, so that staff do not need to edit CSS files when adding or editing pages.

Thank you once again for taking the time to respons and provide your valuable input.

    Many Thanks,

    Nico

    Hi Nico,

If your concern is making life easier for your editing staff, then definitely custom coding an option into the shortcode would definitely be more elegant and user-friendly.
