Hey guys, here’s a situation I’d like to discuss:

When creating this website I need two different versions of the same pages, one for smartphones and another version for tablets and above. For example, when I access the home page on smartphones, I should be looking at specific mobile-only images and elements, and when I’m on a tablet or above, I should see the “full site”.

The question I have is this: should I build these two different versions on the same page, but stating different responsive behaviors for the different resolutions? The main concern I have is that if I do this, when I’m on mobile the page is too heavy to load. Does “mobile-only visibility” means that a) non-mobile-only elements don’t load or b) all elements load but non-mobile only remain hidden.

Hope this is clear. In case this is not viable, please let us know what options do I have. Thanks.

    Hi

I’m afraid that’s not possible. The industry standard these days is to have a responsive site, which just involves media queries in the css which changes styles depending on the screen resolution. The output of HTML is exactly the same though, you can only set to show/hide assets depending on the device.

Having a different site/page load depending on the device is something you don’t see often anymore, if this is what you would like to do you will need to hire a developer to assist you as it’s not possible with the theme

Hey Kyle, thank you for your reply.

The issue remains that ideally, my idea is to have a lite mobile version and a full tablet/desktop version. Which options do I have in that case? Thanks.

You can always use the Row visibility options, but that will hide the desktop content from the mobile since it will be displayed if the screen changes to a desktop resolution.

And also use a specific mobile menu if you want to reduce the number of pages in the menu.

Thanks Rui, I’ll try that out.

    Hi there,

I have searched your forums for information on changing mobile version to desktop version and cant seem to find the answers to my questions:

    1. I have changed the mobile logo in theme options but its not displaying the amended logo when i check it on my phone. Could you tell me why this might be happening? is there size specs for mobile logo that I might be unaware of? should i always be using a retina logo as well?

    2. When I check my site on my iphone it takes you to the blog page rather than my full site/store. Could you tell me where I could change this setting?
    3. I am having difficulty differentiating all the different menu options – is there a document that supports all the menu functions/locations?

In the future, please create your own new thread.

    1) Will need a URL/Login.

    2) What page have you set as the homepage in Dashboard => Settings => Reading Settings => Front Page Displays => A static page

    3) Have you read over the docs: swiftideas.com/documentation/
