I just tried to load the demo for Dante, and I keep getting the following “500 Internal Server Error”. Do you know what is going on? I few of features are working in WP, but every time I click on “plugins” I get this message. It seemed to be tied to the WooCommerce Plugins, but even when I deactivated those, the demo download didn’t import properly. Not sure what to do? I have a new iMac with Mavericks (if that makes a difference?).
Internal Server Error
The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
January 16, 2014 at 7:14 am #42857Hi,
There is likely a server misconfiguration . Please contact your hosting company and tell them to increase your php memory .Thanks
TahirJanuary 16, 2014 at 5:05 pm #43023I contacted them, and we increased the php memory. I’m still getting server errors with The Full Demo. I was able to download the Alt Demo though. What is the Alt Demo missing from the Full Demo?
January 21, 2014 at 8:43 am #43719They probably didn’t increase it enough.
The alt content has no media included, as pointed out in the documentation. Thank you!
January 23, 2014 at 10:15 am #44258I am also getting this 500 error, right after importing. It happens with both of the files. Now my site is locked with just a 500 error page.
Please advice
January 23, 2014 at 10:54 am #44264I had to completely remove my wp install and start all over again to get it working with the Alt Demo.
It was no picnic….
January 27, 2014 at 10:21 am #44897Hi @tynus,
Unfortunately the WordPress import process is rarely a breeze to use. If you get 500 server errors, your best bet is to press the browser’s back button, and then carry on the process. It may require 5+ repeats, but it will eventually get through.
Hope that helps.

January 31, 2014 at 2:03 pm #46018HI! Don’t hesitate to visit the Neighborhood Support forum regarding the problems most buyers encounter uploading the full_demo.XML file. The Dante theme is a serious upgrade and improvement from the Neighborhood_theme, which in certain areas is quite identical with the Neighborhood theme. The identical issues are par example – the uploading of the full_demo_content_file!
A way to avoid the error messages (and whatever buyers may encounter during their struggling with this upload) is to increase the php.ini file. This easy-to-do task will in most cases – work fine.
!!!But even better is….to divide the XML.file into minor “XML.chunks”! This method will always work – however much or less the php.ini file has been changed for the increasements Dante users may prefer or may succeed in doing.
If you’re lucky to have an editor, par example Dreamweaver…or the like, you may use this application to “chunk up” the large full_demo_XML.file – into minor xml.files
Create minor XML.files…and don’t forget to add the opening and closing tags for each single XML.file!
This’ll do the trick anytime! Filesize may not exceed more then 400-450 KB! 150-200 KB are for flawless uploads! With the Dante theme this method will need about 16-20 “chunked_xml_files”!
Believe me…this issue hasn´t yet been solved with the Neighborhood theme – which is much older then the Dante theme._eccesso

laranz.February 10, 2014 at 11:50 am #47563Hi,
Many people (like me) are on a Shared or Reseller Hosting package, and there are limits that can’t be adjusted. Here are the hostgator’s limits and php settings that can’t be changed:safe mode = Off (cannot adjust)
memory_limit = 256M (MAXIMUM)
max_execution_time = 30 (MAXIMUM in seconds)
max_input_time = 60 (MAXIMUM in seconds)
post_max_size = 64M (MAXIMUM)
upload_max_filesize = 64M (MAXIMUM)
enable_dl = Off (cannot adjust)See also my other thread:
