Thank you for fixing the “undefined” error in Page Builder, but the 3.01 update you provided introduces a new problem.

Parallax now has a padding attribute set by default (which evidently overrides all other full-width settings), with slider and numeric entry options to adjust it. Following the 3.01 update, all of my Parallax instances now display padding. After touching each Parallax element on every page of every site to reset the padding to 0%, I see that each Parallax element retains padding. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone employ a padded Parallax element anywhere, but whatever; that’s not the central issue.

    1. This attribute probably should not have 15% as the default setting, and
    2. This attribute probably should inherit, not override, global page width settings, and
    3. Setting the slider to zero or providing the numeric entry field a zero-value explicitly has no effect on Parallax element width.

This issue was not present prior to 3.01.

Thank you for your time and attention. We have high hopes for the premium theme we purchased.

    Hi Matthew,

The parallax isn’t full width because you have custom css adding padding to the .page-content class? See here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4aty9fjg8w9nsn2/Screenshot%202015-07-26%2019.57.52.png?dl=0

The parallax has margin top and bottom, but you can remove this by adding the following extra class:

    mt0 mb0

    Hi Ed,

Thank you for your ideas. I don’t plan to download Dropbox, so I can’t see your link. There probably is a better way to share an image, I mean: since we’re using HTML and all.

Anyway, what you mentioned is true: I assign several property values in our Custom CSS file. However, this file has not been edited since April 24th, so I am sure these custom padding declarations are not the root cause of the new page width (and Parallax element) behavior.

Maybe, based on the number of issues reported here, here, and here, there likely is another, bigger issue affecting our pages’ display.

    Please advise,

    Matthew

It’s a screenshot link – you don’t need dropbox to be able to view it within your browser.

Yes – that may have been true before the 3.00 update, however we may a number of improvements to the way we handle full width assets in Dante. As of the latest update, the css you’ve added won’t allow the assets to remain full width. You will need to adjust that.

The issues in those topics are not of the same issue, some need a fix, others are user customisation issues.

Thanks for the prompt reply, Ed!

That’s odd. The link takes me to a page titled “Dropbox”, complete with Dropbox favicon, Dropbox corporate branding, and a button titled “Download” – for the Dropbox app. The entire page is otherwise blank, except for the words “Sign in” and a tiny blue copyright flag. When I click “Sign in”, it tales me to https://www.dropbox.com/login. Are you sure it’s not a Dropbox link?

Really: it doesn’t matter. I just want our premium theme to work and display the way it did Friday morning, before we started updating and patching the Dante theme. The site used to look decent. Maybe I can roll it back somehow, without breaking a bunch of other stuff.

    Still fixing stuff,

    Matthew

Are you on mobile? Only ever tried it from desktop. Either way I was just pointing to your .page-content css.

3.0 is the way forward – rather than saying you are “fixing stuff” please communicate issues that you are having, so we can assist.

    Thank you, Ed!

    No, not on mobile: it’s a 64-bit Core i-7 Win 7 SP-1; using IE 11.

Left to guess, maybe it’s a cross-site reference issue, common with third-party reflectors. No worries. I see what you’re seeing in the CSS.

“…a number of improvements to the way we handle full width assets in Dante.” Under the circumstances, I’d say “improvements” is subjective. When my clients and other site visitors experience an unappealing display change, I doubt they consider the site’s appearance improved.

The term “improvement” doesn’t come to mind when I read a vendor’s directive, “You will need to adjust that.” Judging from the forum’s content regarding the recent update, several of your customers share my perspective.

    Somewhat concerned,

    Matthew

It is a big update – we made that clear with the sticky topic, and provided the previous version if people needed to revert.

The truth is that we can’t prepare for every user’s customisations, which are a large share of the issues with the update. We have worked proactively to assist with any issues that arise. Yes, the update did change the way full width sections are handled, and as such rendered the css which you had before to be incorrect. It’s not subjective when the core facts of the structural changes mean that assets load quicker, and are handled in a better manner.

We’re not putting out these updates to cause issues, and we apologise for any that arise, but as I mentioned previously – I have spent all weekend on support, responding to users with concerns and providing fixes where necessary. If you don’t want the new changes then the previous version is available in the sticky, and has been since before 3.00 was released. You are more than welcome to stick with that.
