I’m having an odd issue when creating new parallax sections on any page but the main page. For some reason, neither an image background or a video background will show, only the alt-bg. This only happens in Chrome, as Firefox and IE both show fine. I have cleared my cache and tried again, but still without any results.

If I look closely, the image or video actually shows for a split-second before it gets replaced by the alt-bg.

Just a note, I have yet to upgrade to 2.5, so if this was a bug fixed in 2.5 please let me know. If not, this is very baffling to me.

Hey there, that’s a chrome bug about css animations and I’m sure the developer is on it!

I’ll forward it to him tho ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hi @logicbroker,

Are you seeing this on our demo? Can you provide a link to your site so that we can check it?

    Thanks,

    – Ed

Unfortunately the site is still in a local dev environment and not on the web so I can’t provide a link to it. I’ve also been unable to replicate it on any of the spots on your site. The parallax section on my home page works fine, just trying to add one anywhere else seems to not work when viewed in Chrome. Again, Firefox and IE are fine. Attaching a quick screengrab so you don’t think I’m totally crazy (Chrome on the left, Firefox on the right).

I know I wasn’t able to provide much more information, but any clue you can give me to go on would be appreciated.

Odd, but unfortunately not much we can help with unless we can see the site to investigate. As I said, it’s not happening here so it may be something to do with your setup.

I’d suggest trying to update to v2.5, and if not then it would be helpful to get something up live, even on just a test site for us to see.

A little more info I just discovered while poking at it. If I do not use ‘background-attachment:fixed” then the image shows up. As soon as I enable it, the image disappears behind the alt-bg.

The image may show up, but does it remain fixed?

I got the same issue.. adding position: static to the parallax/alt-bg element does the trick for me. Image shows up & remain fixed!

Oddly enough, when I did a fresh install of the theme, not even 2.5, just the same version, on a web server, I did not have the issue. Sounds like it might just be an odd bug that needs to be squashed.

Just as a note to Ed and the rest of the staff, I tried the fix reported by @bboehm86 and it worked for me as well. This time, the bug showed up randomly on a parallax area that hadn’t had any changes done to it in over a week. Again, only in chrome, showed fine in FF and IE.

Looking at the code after I put the fix in place, it looks like the .spb_parallax_asset class may be the offender here.
